MARIANNE ABBOTT

July 17, 1950 - April 13, 2022

We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beloved sister, Marianne Abbott on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. After years of coping with debilitating health issues and meeting each and every one of them without bitterness, she remained so positive about the good things about life. And, while her own body was slowly failing her, her mind was forever sharp, and she knew how to use it to get things done.

Marianne leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years John (“Barnie” to her); brother Ben Wagner (Pat); Marijke Wall; Nick Waagenaar; Willy Jones (Phil); and John (Sandie). Marianne was predeceased by her sister Anne; and mother Anne.

Marianne is a special loss to her good friend, confidante, and caregiver for over 40 years Ruth Moore. They could be found at Club Regent Monday’s and Thursday’s feeding the troops with goodies of the day while enjoying Bingo.

With her debilitating health issues Marianne for many years was an eager, active, and knowledgeable Patient Partner with health institutions and doctors’ workshops. She gave back this way in the ultimate benefit that she could by helping doctors understand from a patient perspective the crippling effects of rheumatoid arthritis. She was an asset to health care.

Marianne and John enjoyed many years of RVing together in their motorhome. They could be found in Thief River Falls, MN for the summers enjoying shopping and a bit of casino therapy. It was their happy place.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial celebrating her life will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, Marianne's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
