Alf was one of those people you just liked. He'd leave the room and I'd think, "what a nice guy". My heart aches for your loss.

I was so shocked and saddened by this news. Alf was such a wonderful person to work with. We got to be great friends at 402 Sqn in the 90’s when he was Tool Control and I was Tool Crib. He would cover for me when I went for a coffee and a chat with Olle and I’d cover for him when he went to play hockey or his much loved tennis. He very patiently taught me to use the first computer I was given, after he and Brian learned that it had been on my desk for a year, and I’d yet to turn it on. They said, haven’t you been checking your emails? And I said, what’s email? So much wonderful laughter in our office. Alf, I never did learn to like computers, but I did learn to use email. You were one of the Good Guys in a sea of sharks. You will be missed my friend. ❤️

Alf was a great friend of mine. We first met at 402 Sqn in 1990 and the friendship blossomed. He recruited me into IPMS Winnipeg (model club) and we began to socialize outside of work. Alf and I went with the Sqn to Colorado Springs years ago and had a fun weekend. Since I was also a Star Trek fan and had utilized the series while I was broadcasting at CKY, my repertoire of lines constantly had Alf laughing. Alf cared deeply about his family and often spoke with pride about his father's war-time service as a flight instructor on Cessna Cranes. He was an avid armor modeler (often teased by me; what, no airplanes!) and won numerous awards at our contests. He was gentle, soft-spoken, kind and blessed with a wonderful sense of humour. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, those who loved him and the many people whose lives he touched. "I have been and always will be your friend. Live long and prosper"

RIP Alf, was a pleasure to work along side with him in the late 80's. Alf was my first MCpl. I helped him move into his first home he bought around 90 I think?

My entire career, he was the stationary person that I knew, no matter what time it was he was here, he knew the inner workings of just about everything here, I was in 435 going through rotation when I first met him, and he answered a mission questions for me.  He will be missed, and the CAF has lost so much with his passing.  Sorry for your loss.

Very sad news - I had only seen him a short time ago. Will remember his cheery disposition and keen interest in history. Condolences to all his family and friends.

I'm greatly saddened by this news.😪 I worked with Alf at 402SQN in Tool Crib. Such a amazing kind hearted person and so humble. Never a dull moment with Alf. We had many laughs sharing a cup of his special tea and some of my baking. Next door  they were always telling us to keep it down.😁lol. He truly had a Zest for life, and always left others with a positive impact. My deepest condolences to his Wife and Family. 💖🙏 I will truly miss him. 😢
