JOHN MICHAEL GEORGE ADDY
“TINY”
October 14, 1947 – February 21, 2025
It is with an extremely heavy heart and profound sadness that we share the news that Tiny, A.K.A. John Michael George Addy, passed away on Friday, February 21st, 2025 at 7:25 p.m. in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Tiny leaves behind his daughter Shennen Lloyd A.K.A. “Teddy” or, as Tiny called her, “Angels”; as well as his friend of 47 years, Tammy Byers.
Tiny was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 14th, 1947. He was predeceased by both his mother and father.
Also feeling the great loss are his cats: Sweetie Pie, Asshole, and Brindle.
Tiny spent most of his life doing amazing leather work. He also did film security for a good portion of his life. At one point in time, he worked at the zoo on Osborne.
Tiny was happiest when he was at home doing his own thing, or out riding his motorcycle, doing coffee with friends at Country Style Donuts on Osborne way back when. Tiny also worked at the Sandal Shop making sandals, and for many years he worked at the Ting Tea Room and spoke about all of his adventures and Friends many times before passing.
Tiny was definitely not a flower guy, so if you are so inclined to do something in lieu of flowers, Tiny was an extreme supporter of Hope for Wildlife in Nova Scotia where he was born.
Tiny’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Tiny was a great guy who always made my sisters and I feel welcome when our dad would go visit him. He would show us what he was working on, we would feed and play with his animals and was so great when he gave us our wonderful cat, Freddie, over 20 years ago when his kitty, Smokie, had a litter. He was always looking out for others and loved what he did. It was evident in the care he took with his leather work and with all he did on his vehicles as well. His laugh was infectious and was always up for telling an inappropriate joke or 2. He will be greatly missed ❤️

Never could believe all the stories my dad would tell me about his younger days with Tiny because, he was always just the nicest, quietest guy whenever I saw him. The one that always comes to mind is the meeting with another larger than life family friend Aaron Crellin and the tow truck incident IYKYK lol. I think maybe Tiny understood he was intimidating and was definitely smart enough to know that it worked in his favor most times but, with my conversations with him when I was older I think that also was something that hurt him as well because it makes him come off as anti-social but, I think he really loved and loved being around those he really cared for and I was lucky to count myself as one of them. To be fair I think his love for my Father spilled over to me LOL but, when I was older and we would work security gigs together we would have some fantastic conversations that I remember very fondly, including one about loving the way you feel after a good sneeze, that one always makes me smile because it was just so Tiny to me, simple things really are the best things. I hope you are having fun with all your friends up there while you guys get to listen to my dad play the guitar out by a fire somewhere. That simply sounds like heaven to me....

Tiny is & always will be . . . a Large Presence . . . he was a great friend to my husband Roger (RD) & in the early days, they were roomates living in a trailer out in St. Andrews . . . haha, I can't imagine all the trouble those 2 got into, both Large & In-Charge Funny Guys . . . RD transcended in May of 2019 & we were happily surprised to see Tiny at his Celebration of Life, sitting alone at the back of the room . . . I thanked him so much for coming, since this was not "his type of thing". I have no doubt they are both laughing & carousing together on that Second Plane of Existence . . . RD singing & playing his guitar & Tiny grooving & having a Great Old Time . . . stay GOLD Tiny & carry on as a Great Friend & Protector.

Tiner!! My father R.D's best friend, The formidable duo! I had the pleasure of knowing you and getting old enough to party with you. We had some good times, lots of laughs getting high at the Westend cultural center doing security. You sent my dad $$ from it when he had his heart attack, thats a true friend. I remember when you rode your bike for like a year and got all slim, came by the place on Furby, that was impressive. I never told you but when I borrowed your boler trailer for folk fest that year, we left the door open in the rain and that's how it fell off...lol. I love you, you were my friend too. Until we meet again Tiner. Cheers to that Long overdue drink with you and my dad. RIP, it was a pleasure to know you. P.S say hello to Theresa for me...

I am so sorry to hear this I met Tiny nearly 50 yrs ago when he lived on good street. To me he was always kind and very easy to talk to. No matter how much time had passed. We could always just hang out. He has been on my mind alot lately. I am very sorry I didn't get to see Tiny before he left us💐💕R.I.P.

My condolences to Tiny's family. Although we only comunicated occasionally by email or Facebook over the past many years, Tiny's presence has always loomed large in my thoughts. From our days at the Ting, especially working in the leather shop, to sharing a house with a couple other of 'the boys', to working together at AmbuTech. Tiny was understood by all as a force of nature. I remember well 'the look' (thanks Kathy!) if someone forgot. Rest in peace, old friend.

Condolences to Tiny's family. I met Tiny when I was a waitress at the Ting. He was a guy who seemed tough at first but if you got to know him you'd find out what a big heart and sense of fun he had. The tough look came in handy though, any time some guy was hassling one of us servers. We'd alert Tiny and he'd come over, give the guy 'the look' and suggest he smarten up. They always did. Thanks Tiny. In later years, sometimes Marilyn & I would meet up with Tiny late at night at the donut shop and he'd take us along for awhile on his tow truck route. What a hoot! Rest in peace, Tiny.

As the years widened our personal orbits Tiny and I saw each other less often but when we did meet up our friendship was always unchanged. I don't recall how or when we met tho' at the Ting seems likely. We never did share an adventure but I always thought of him as a friend and someone that I was glad to know.

Tiny was a friend of my father's, I remember going to see him with my dad when I was little. He always had so many crazy and interesting things around his house. My dad and I visited him one year on Christmas, we made him a copy of the new (at the time) Rolling Stones album "Bridges to Babylon" and we sat around all day listening to it. A very fond memory of mine. Rest easy Tiny ♥️
