JAVIER ERNESTO AGUILERA

May 22, 1966 - March 7, 2021

Javier Ernesto Aguilera, 54, partner of Sheryl Rempel, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully, March 7, 2021, at home.

Born May 22, 1966, in Sogamoso, Colombia, he was the second born of Jose Aguilera and the late Marina Cediel Aguilera.

Javier spent his early years in Belencito, Colombia. Even though the family moved around many times during his first 10 years he never had problems making friends, with his charismatic way, and his friends were a constant fixture at the family home.

Javier’s pride and joy were his 3 children and he would do anything for them. Many memories were made at cabins rented in the summer where he could be found fishing, hiking and boating with the kids. He was the king of “Dad jokes” and never missed an opportunity to share one.

He will be remembered for his love of life, his smile, complete with disarming dimples that lit up the room and his kind heart.

His sisters fondly remember him as the smart one, the funny one and the cute one. Kind-hearted, thoughtful, humble and giving.

Javier attended John Taylor High School, and worked a few odd jobs before settling into his career at Boeing Winnipeg where he worked for 31 years.

Javier loved to travel and he and Sheryl shared many wonderful adventures together exploring the world.

He is survived by his partner in life and love, Sheryl Rempel; his children Karissa, Kailey and Mitchel and their mother Korrena of Winnipeg; father Jose Aguilera, partner Gloria Millan of Bogota, Colombia; sisters and their families, Adriana and Daniel Koshowski, their 3 boys Tyler, Myles and Riley of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Claudia and Marco Caporuscio, their 3 children Diego, Luke and Isabella of Montreal, Quebec. He is also survived by Sheryl’s children and their families Kelly-Anne and Stacey Neufeld of Grunthal, Manitoba, grandchildren Anabelle and  Daniel; Teri-Lynne Zacharias, grandson Carter of Kelowna, British Columbia; Brea Rempel and partner Tyler Billings of Manitou, Manitoba.

In addition to his mother Marina, he was predeceased by his brother Jose “Nachito”.

You were taken too soon and your presence will be missed by many.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no service planned.

Donations in his memory may be made to: Kidney Cancer Canada, 3 - 251 Queen Street South, Suite 561, Mississauga, ON L5M 1L7.

I worked with Javier for many years in the Inspection Dept at Boeing. I was deeply saddened by his passing. He was much too young and will be missed. He was the go to guy in CAMS Inspection and he always went out of his way to provide support to his cohorts. GOD BLESS you Javier and our deepest sympathies to your entire family. Bob and Susan Peleck. Rest in Peace.

Our brother, the smart one, the funny one and the cute one.  You were kind-hearted, thoughtful, humble and would do absolutely anything for your loved ones, especially your children.  We will miss you always. Javier was the second born out of 4 in our family.   He spent his early years in Belencito, Colombia.  Even though we moved so many times during his first 10 years, our brother never had problems making friends with his charismatic way. His friends were a constant fixture in our house. Our brother was the smart one.  Growing up with our brother was like an early version of Google. Who needed Google back then when we had him? As he himself would say, “I am a walking book of knowledge!”  Our brother was highly intelligent and was generous to share it.  Years after he had taken courses, he would still be able to help us with calculus problems…he simply just knew it.   Our brother was the funny one and had a subtle wit.   His children say he was the king of “Dad Jokes”. In the presence of a “stud finder” he would point it at himself and when it beeped, he would say, “it never fails!”  Even in his last days, when he could not verbally communicate, he would try to make us laugh with his facial expressions. Our brother was quiet, he did not have to say much. His eyes and his smiles would say it all. Our brother was the cute one. We think he purposely smiled often to flash his dimples and he used his cuteness to his advantage whenever he could. We were often told he looked like a movie star, but when someone said he looked like the Hulk, he would reply, “Only from the neck down”.  He would joke like this with us often, but we all knew his true nature was humble and kind-hearted. Our most recent, and now most precious memory was of our trip back to Colombia to celebrate our Dad’s 80th birthday. Back in our birth country, we reconnected and our love for each other grew as we rekindled our memories of our youth. Javier, you left us too soon. Our hearts are broken. We needed more time to share, to grow old and to create more memories. Mom is there with the two sons and Dad is here with the two daughters. Our family is all protected.  We will forever miss you.   Your sisters, Adriana and Claudia

I was very fortunate to have learned from Jav in our short time together at work... half from my Skype calls for help and half by osmosis as he radiated quiet confident intelligence , no flash ... just results.  I’m glad to have shared a few laughs together over morning coffee and the days game plan. You are missed.  My deepest condolences to Sheryl and family.
