I knew Rick when we were both in 402 Sqn/3 Wing Air Reserve, in the 1970s.  The first thing I said to him was "You must be of Welsh heritage - you have blue eyes and dark hair!".  He laughed and returned "How did you know?" That is how I remember him - as a friendly, laughing person. I especially appreciate the time my husband (Al Krawchuk) and I went to the USA for the weekend with Rick and his then wife Linda.  It was a hilarious weekend with lots of laughter, good bargains, and good food.  Rick suggested we eat at Taco John's for lunch.  It was my first taste of Mexican Food and I am still grateful for his introduction. When Rick's children were young they got used to Al visiting in his old Mercedes Benz.  Little Rick and Pam called Al "Mr. Krawchuk".   At one point Rick purchased Al's car.  When young Rick saw that his dad was driving the car  he became upset, and asked why he was driving "Mr. Krawchuk's" car.  It took a while for young Rick to get over the sale of the car to his dad. Although I lost touch with Rick after I left the Air Reserve, I fondly remember him as part of our Air Reserve "family" from those days long ago, when we were young, and the sky was unlimited. Have a good landing Rick!

Rick was one of my favorite Commissionaires. He never lost his smile even if we disturbed his sleep and answered the phone gladly. He never said "I can't" to us. He always made time for us if we needed him and when he was unavoidably unable to comply with our request for work he asked us to understand politely.I don't know Rick's personal life. It's all I know about Rick just meeting him and talking to him about work. But his smile and faithfulness showed what kind of life he had lived and how he was seen by others.I miss his smile.I will never forget him.Rest in peace, Rick. He devoted his whole life to his country, Canada. He did his best and was humble, even if it wasn't something that caught the eye of the world. Now be the star in the sky that reflects Canada. Peter Hyoungjin Cho Dispatch Commissionaires MB
