Christopher Arbon

CHRISTOPHER NEIL ARBON
October 23, 1953 – April 16, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce that Christopher passed away on April 16, 2026, in hospital at the age of seventy-two.
Christopher was born in Halstad, Essex, England and started driving trucks in 1974. In 1982 he expanded his career into Europe and the Middle East. He was available to spend summers on the French Rivera. He lived in Germany and France and wrote three short books and a blog on his travels as well as posting pictures of different trucks on his Facebook Groups about trucking.
In 2006 he decided to come to Canada to continue his trucking career throughout North America, with his first trucking company Big Freight out of Steinbach, Manitoba. His career in North America took him through all the US states except Hawaii and across Canada.
He was an avid cyclist and would often go on cycling trips to get himself fit after all the long hours driving in the truck. He cycled Ireland, Europe, the Camino De Santiago, New Zealand, and British Columbia alone. In August of 2015, his partner in life, Cheryl, joined him on the Kettle Valley trail in British Columbia.
In 2016 he purchased a 1989 Mack Fire Rescue truck for his retirement, where we spent 2 years outfitting it to be a Motorhome. He was the type of man who had to be doing something all the time. The Motorhome took us to British Columbia, Arizona, Texas, California, Baja Mexico, and Baja California prior to Covid hitting in 2020.
In 2021 he bought a motorcycle and December, we planned a 4-month trip through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador before coming back to Canada.
In 2022 we went to Australia for a 3 month stay that included getting around by trains and E-bikes, pet sitting at four locations on the gold coast with a cruise to New Zealand ending the time in Australia.
In 2023 motorcycle trips ended due to circumstances and he was content to enjoy May to September out at St Malo, Manitoba where he would walk the trails, carving wood and kayaking the lake. He also had a knack for cooking often making scones, biscuits, and pork pies.
In Accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

I will ever miss the constant in my life that was you. I have the memories of the travel we did together until tragidy struck and your life changed course.
The motorcycle trip to Central America being a trip off a lifetime. Rest easy my gentle giant, although knowing you, I can envision you forever cycling, kayaking and travelling the roads of heaven. Earth was but one of the roads you've completed. Always in my heart, loving you forever.....
