MARK WESLEY ARGYLE

May 3, 1968 – May 15, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Mark Wesley Argyle, on Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Saint Boniface Hospital at the age of 54.

He is survived by his wife Carla (Cunningham) of 27 years, his mother Irene, his 4 sisters Ruth (Terry Fach), Lois (Wes Gorman), Esther (Casimiro Nhussi), Christine (Todd Hughes), 9 nieces and nephews Matthew, Ndidi (Carly), Michaela, Marisa (Paul), Katuma, Miranda (Niall), Nick (Molly), Kaelum, Aidan, and grand-nephew Remi.  As well as Auntie Moira and Uncle Gillies of Dunoon, Scotland and Aunty Ayesha of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Mark is predeceased by his twin brother Luke, father Charles Brook, and Uncle Jim.

Mark was born on May 3, 1968 in Newmarket, Ontario and went on to live in Miramichi, New Brunswick where he graduated from high school.

He then moved to Winnipeg and attended Canadian Nazarene College and the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Mark grew up in both the towns of Mount Albert, Ontario and Miramichi, New Brunswick.  In Mount Albert, he enjoyed life as a free range child, racing go-carts, playing hide and seek, and building many tree forts. In Miramichi, Mark enjoyed many adventures with his good friends; Dave Truka, Troy MacDonnell, Dave Galley and Chris Hansen.

In Winnipeg, Mark met his wife, Carla and they were married in 2000.  They bought their house in Fort Richmond and enjoyed spending time with their dog Joey, as well as hosting barbeques for friends and family.

Mark was born with a very strong sense of fair play, which lead him to be an active supporter of his local union–Unifor, and served to protect workers rights.

Mark loved many sports.  He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan, no matter how many times they disappointed him.  He was also an avid Blue Bomber and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Mark loved playing golf, smoking meat on his Char Griller and making his own hot sauce.

He never missed an opportunity to tell a story and was always full of knowledge that he loved to share.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm Friday, May 27th at New Hope Community Church (214 Henderson Hwy at Noble Ave).

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place through the services of Ethical Death Care Cremation & Funeral Planning. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

So sad to hear about Mark and deepest condolences to Carla and the Argyle family. We enjoyed our time together whenever we went away on union business and different union functions. Lost touch with him when True Serve closed up and the union office closed do to Covid. Was lucky to have a chat with him about a month ago when I met up with him at Sobey's parking lot.  He is going to be missed. Gerry & Wanda

❤😺Mark was a cool 🐈, I remembered a story about a time we were on a union conference and we went shopping. Entered a store that caught his eye 👁. We decided to play a prank on the lone clerk pretending to be a couple 💑. Looking at different things. Tried hats, ties, hats that he still has- the young man followed us around until Mark decided to purchase the hat 👒 that I appreciate 👍. We left the store laughing 😆 😀. Was a very good day spending time together ❤ 😀 👍. Great guy.

I worked part of a summer and spent time socializing with Mark in Miramichi in the early 1990s.  I remember his joy for life and sense of humour most clearly.  We never kept in touch thereafter, but I have an will remember him fondly.  Please accept my sympathies for your loss.

My sincerest condolences to all of you. I was shocked and saddened by Mark’s passing and very sorry to hear it. I had hoped to see Mark after many years at my brother’s (David) a few years ago when his wife passed but we never managed to be there at the same time. I did get updates about what Mark was doing from Dave which made me feel closer to him and all of you in turn than a 30+ year absence would suggest. God rest his soul. My heart goes out to all of you at this difficult time. Jana

Wow what I shock. When my buddy Dave talked to me the other day, it seemed like just yesterday we were chatting with Mark about coming over in August for a week. I had the awesome opportunity of living with Mark in Windsor for a short period of time and we became good buddies through Dave.  He tried the unicycle a couple of times, but said he'd rather be on his own two feet.  Our last gather was Geocaching in Paris https://coord.info/GL15VJQ00 , kinda a scavenger hunt for children of all ages, but we had good time when Mark came over to visit us. The ribs were a great choice. He will certainly be missed. We all had some great laugh that day. K-and-K

I want to express my condolences to Mark’s family. I worked with Mark back in our high school days at Miramichi Valley High school pool. You were an incredible swimmer. Mark and I had attended a Nationals in Life guarding in the late 80’s at the UdeM pool which led to an outdoor swim examination in the spring of that year at Parle beach in Shediac. The water was so frigid! Mark and I at the time thought we were both crazy for taking part. I remember Mark being encouraging and very supportive turning a crazy situation into something to laugh about. With strength and lots of determination he pushed through that examination and achieved his certification. He always had a great sense of humor not only throughout the nationals but at the pool as well. He will always be remembered. Again to his family I’m so sorry for your loss.
