DENNIS NELSON ARNOULD

April 1, 1945 - May 7, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis in the evening of May 7th at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 53 years Georgette; children Roger (Carla), Glen, and Denyse (Trent) Neuman; grandchildren Austin, Emily, Maryn, Allan, Evan and Logan; brother Larry (Yuri); sisters Geraldine Lee (Gerald) and Darlene Lee (Darwyn); brother-in-law Henri (Carmelle) Dromberg; former sister-in-law Cheryl, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents Roger and Gertrude Arnould; dear sisters Eleanor Dromberg and Madeline Dunham; brother-in-law Charles Dunham and special angels Katelynn and Emma-Lee.

Dennis was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the St. James area with his father, mother and five siblings. At the age of 19, he went to a legion barbeque where he met the love of his life, Georgette. The young couple hit it off immediately and were married two short years later. When Dennis was 25, he and Georgie welcomed their first born, Roger, into the world. Glen was born 2 years later and Denyse followed 4 years after that.

Dennis loved his family with his whole heart. He spent many days fishing with his boys.  They would head out in the morning with a packed lunch and, with any luck, return home in the evening with freshly caught dinner. Denyse loved joining her dad on his trips to the hardware store to shop for the needed materials for an upcoming job. In their later teens, Roger and Glen often joined their dad on the job site. They both developed life-long skills working beside their father, learning the tricks of the trade. Dennis was a well-respected General Contractor in Winnipeg and the surrounding areas. He had many repeat customers, a lot of whom became friends over the years.

Dennis and Georgette had the absolute luck and privilege to be able to spend 53 years together. They spent the vast majority of those years in their family home in Charleswood. Both were avid gardeners and many summer dinners included fresh produce that was grown in the backyard. Often the house had a wonderful aroma of fresh-baked apple pie, made with apples from their tree.

During their last year together, Dennis and Georgette were blessed to be able to share a room in their personal care home. All of the staff members loved to see them in the hallways, doting on each other. Dennis passed peacefully with his Georgie by his side. Neither one would have wanted it any other way.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Poseidon Care Centre for the care and compassion they gave to Dennis during the last year of his life.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life for family and close friends will be announced later in the year.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Mental Health Association (Winnipeg Region).
