LARRY ATKINSON

September 1, 1953 – April 12, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Atkinson on April 12th, 2024.

He is survived by his sister Cheryl (David); nieces, Kailey (Evan) and Michelle. Predeceased by his mother Gladys Atkinson; and recently, his sister Cathy Atkinson.

Larry was an intelligent and precocious child that decided that there really was no need for kindergarten because he could colour at home! It seemed that this became his mantra for life.

He attended LaVérendrye School and Churchill High Schools but again, did prefer to colour at home!

He was passionate about his family, music, fishing and hockey. His most prized possession was his vinyl record collection.

There were many fishing trips taken but his favorites were always his trips with his niece Kailey. There were lots of laughs and plenty of bologna sandwiches to go around. Larry, Kailey and Cheryl were fans of the Goldeyes and attended many games together. He had played hockey as a child and would never miss a game on the TV. He loved his family deeply and would do anything for any of us if it was within his means. He loved his nieces Kailey and Michelle dearly. He was so proud of them both and all their accomplishments academically as well as their personal endeavors – Synchronized swimming for Kailey and Michelle’s horses and Show Jumping. He would talk about them endlessly with his friends.

He will be greatly missed but we take solace in the knowledge that he is at peace.

A family Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Larry’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
