KENNETH "KEN" NIEL BAILEY

September 3, 1947 - July 7, 2023

It is with great sadness to say goodbye to our Dad, brother, uncle, and friend.

Ken is survived by his children, Tara Soukeroff (Don), Scott Bailey, Kim Bailey (Blair); grandchildren, Spenser, Kyle, Wyatt, Charlotte, Julian, Jordan, James; sister Lois Croke; three nieces, and one nephew. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Lena; brothers, Irvin and Keith; two nephews, and one great nephew.

Ken was born and raised in Winnipeg where he remained and raised a family of his own. Ken worked at Canadian Pacific Railway for 33 years and retired as Ken “the Hammer” Bailey at the age of 57.

Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends, took pride in everything he did and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has already taken place. We encourage everyone who knew Ken to celebrate his life in their own way.

Ken's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Ken was a wholesome dude. A rock. Amazing guy. I'm sure going to miss him.

As a family friend of the kids, I got to know Ken mostly as a father figure. I remember hearing ‘Don’t tell my Dad’ or us kids trying to stay quiet if he was sleeping on the couch. I’ll always remember his heartfelt smile after him teasing someone or cracking a joke. It would make us all laugh! You always knew it was a term of endearment for him. Underneath his stubborn tough guy exterior and strict Dad voice you knew he loved his kids to the depths of his soul. And his grandkids all the more.  I had an opportunity to get to know him as an adult when he and Kim gutted and renovated my bathroom. I was always amazed at his attention to detail and it will always be a wonderful memory for me.  He really had a soft spot for pets too and I remember Chinchin curled up next to him.  Lots of great memories. I’m thankful ❤️

My deepest sympathy to the Ken Bailey family on the passing of your Dad, Grandpa. He was a true friend to me being a cousin-in-law. I always enjoyed the family gathering, he never let your glass or your cup be empty. I will miss you my friend. R.I.P

I’ll always miss the summers we came to visit him. The time spent with family by the fire. Everyone sharing great stories about the old house in the back. I will forever miss hearing his laugh after he made a joke. I’ll miss the family dinners we had that always had laughter booming through the house. I’ll miss giving you my burnt part of the marshmallow because you knew I hated it and you didn’t mind the taste. I’ll miss you but I’ll carry your memory with me forever.

I have so many fond and happy memories of our visits. Everyone pitching in to help build whatever project the brothers were working on that summer, like my Dad’s garage or Uncle Ken’s house. So much laughter and good natured teasing, and card games. Lots of very happy memories. Good family times. ❤️
