KATHY JANET BALCEWICH

(née Zornik)

November 26, 1960 – September 9, 2021

We are extremely heartbroken to announce the passing of our wonderful wife, daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Kathy fought hard, but her illness won in the end. She will be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her kind soul. I was extremely fortunate to be able to hold the love of my life in my arms as she took her last breath.

Kathy was born November 26th, 1960, in Winnipeg and grew up in the Garden City area of Winnipeg.

Kathy and I met in High School and fell in love. We married on December 20th, 1980, and have been together ever since. We were extremely lucky to have spent almost 41 years of marriage together.

Kathy was devoted to her family, staying home, and raising 3 amazing daughters.  She taught them to be kind, respectful and independent.

Kathy was predeceased by her mother Lorraine Zornik, and father-In-Law Isaac Balcewich. Kathy is survived by her husband Daniel Balcewich, and our wonderful daughters, Misty Thomas (nee Balcewich), Brittany Springett (nee Balcewich), Alexandra Balcewich, sons-in-Law Seth Thomas, Dustin Springett, and David Goertzen.

Kathy also leaves behind her favorite Little People which she could never get enough of the Grand Children Carter Thomas, Stanley Goertzen, Louis Goertzen and Miriam Goertzen.

She is also survived by her father Donald Zornik, her brother and sister in Law Robert & Laura Zornik, her sister Lori Zornik, aunt Audrey Jones (nee Hunt), mother-In-Law Jose Balcewich, Brother and Sister-in-Law Edward & Joanne Balcewich, nephews Julian Senkowsky, Jordan Senkowsky, Lyndon Balcewich and nieces Samantha Senkowsky and Ainsley Balcewich,

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, she has been cremated and there will be no formal funeral services.

Rest in Peace my LOVE .

I remember our fun times in high school when we were young and silly teenagers. Yours and Dan’s love story was the one few are blessed with. High School sweethearts and soul mates. Facebook kept us connected in sharing about what was so important to both of us -family especially our grandchildren. May your memory be eternal Kathy. I will always treasure our friendship.🙏🏼❤️ Barb Samoil-Selk

My sincere condolences Dan, to you and your family. Kathy was my special cousin that I grew up with. I still remember riding our tricycles together down the side walk in front of her house in Garden City. Hugs to each of you 💔

Kathy and I had a great facebook friendship since 2008. We discussed so many private things. Her love of her husband and daughters was profound. I loved her honesty and integrity. She did message me two days before her passing and I forever cherish that she took the time to share some private emotions with me. Rest peacefully my friend-  Barb Schurko ( Camara).
