RONALD JAMES BARD

May 25, 1960 – February 6, 2023

It is with immense sadness and grief we announce the passing of Ron Bard at Pine Falls Hospital on February 6, 2023. Ron fought a hard and painful battle with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Ron passed peacefully holding his Sweetheart’s hand.

Ron is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Tannis. He also leaves three stepchildren, Joey, Thomas, and Taylor, of whom he is very proud.

He is also survived by two sisters, Myrna Murray and Bonnie Bard; two brothers, Gary Bard and Douglas Bard; nieces, Melissa Ireland (Larry) and Christie Danylchuk (Joel), along with their families; two nephews, Dillan and Travis; and sister-in-law Valerie Hornbaker (Chad).

Ron was predeceased by his mother Irene Bard, and his father Kenneth Bard; as well as by two sisters, Dianne and Beverly; and nephew Steven.

Ron was also predeceased by his great friend and mentor Louis St. Croix. Ron’s business is an extension of Louis’ original St. Croix Cycle and Marine, now known as St. Croix Cycle/Tirecraft, a popular Honda dealership and full automotive service center. Ron accomplished his dream of owning his own business and expanding on Louis’ original vision.

Ron started his career at McNaught Cadillac in Winnipeg for twenty years and retired as shop foreman with so many friends and co-workers with whom he had always remained good friends. Ronald’s passion in life was being a mechanic and riding the open highways by car, motorcycle and motorhome. He and his best buddies had many adventures on many trips. He also shared his passion for motorcycling and RVing to Arizona especially with his sweetheart Tannis.

Ron was always a hard worker, and the business and life he created was no accident. Ron was a man of few words but of great action. He never complained or created excuses for himself. He did what needed to be done and made sure to take care of those around him. Ron could always be counted upon. He was incredibly humble and authentic, he always remained true to himself and walked through life with confidence. If you find yourself being ungrateful and making excuses in your day-to-day life about things you can control or fix, stop yourself. Ron couldn’t fix his cancer, and not once did he say, “why me?” or complain. Ron was a rare individual and like many left this world too soon.

The family would like to thank all of Ron’s good friends, employees, and customers for all the support and kindness shown to us during Ron’s illness and hospitalization, especially Al Pepin, Fred Buchberger, Willie Lavoie, and Adam Pepin.

Tannis would like to especially thank Ron’s sister Myrna and her daughter Taylor for going above and beyond and all their love, support and ensuring Ron always had someone by his side during these last few months.

There will be no service as per Ron’s direction. There will be a memorial bike run for Ronald this summer with a get-together at the shop for all those who wish to attend.

I met Ron through mutual friends,  and McNaught. We ended up being neighbors on Henderson before he moved out to Pine Falls. All around nice guy that I was fortunate to know. Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.  Darren Mallows - friend

Deepest condolences. Ron was one of the most unselfish people anyone would have had the pleasure meeting. Many a time he helped me out and wouldn’t ask for anything in return. We also used the barter system.  I will proudly wear my St. Croix Cycle freezer jacket on your memorial ride.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tannis  and family in this of great sorrow. When we met he did something for me that he did not have to do, that was a great day for me. I have only respect for Ron, he always said it the the way is and was always there for you. He was a great mechanic but he was an even greater person and friend. We will miss you but we will always remember you and all the great thing you have done all that met you. I do not ride but I will attend the ride for Ron. I am proud to think of you as a real friend.
