DIOGENES MARCELINO BARRA PALMA

September 25, 1949 – June 4, 2025

A Celebration of Life


It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Diogenes Marcelino Barra Palma, who left this world on June 4, 2025, at the age of 75 years old. 


Born on September 25, 1949, in Purranque, Chile, Diogenes immigrated to Canada in 1975 to build a brighter future for his young family where he spent over 20 years working as a custodian for the Winnipeg School Division. His dedication to helping others touched the lives of so many. Throughout his life, Diogenes exemplified compassion for his fellow man, leaving a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.


Diogenes is survived by his family both here in Canada, as well as in Chile, and Argentina. Those who knew “Chile” well, will forever hold him in their memories. Rest peacefully among the stars.

Though gone from this world, Diogenes’ light will continue to shine in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Rest in eternal peace papa.

Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de Diógenes Marcelino Barra Palma, quien partió de este mundo el 4 de junio de 2025 a la edad de 75 años.


Nacido el 25 de septiembre de 1949 en Purranque, Chile, Diógenes emigró a Canadá en 1975 para construir un futuro mejor para su joven familia, donde pasó más de 20 años trabajando como conserje en la División Escolar de Winnipeg. Su dedicación a la ayuda a los demás marcó la vida de muchas personas. A lo largo de su vida, Diógenes fue un ejemplo de compasión por el prójimo, dejando un legado perdurable que será apreciado por todos quienes lo conocieron.


A Diógenes le sobreviven sus familiares, tanto aquí en Canadá como en Chile y Argentina. Quienes conocieron bien a Chile lo recordarán por siempre. Descanse en paz entre las estrellas.


Gracias a quienes lo acompañaron hasta el final. En lugar de flores, considere donar al programa de ayuda y rescate de incendios forestales de la Cruz Roja Canadiense.


Aunque ya no esté en este mundo, la luz de Diógenes seguirá brillando en los corazones de quienes deja atrás. Descansa en paz eterna, papá.

Our deepest sympathies to Mauricio, Karen and all of "Grandpa's" family. We will remember him as our neighbour who always had a story to tell, and a kind word. RIP Grandpa!
