MARIE “ANNETTE” LILIANE BARRY (née LEBLANC)

June 2, 1936 – August 11, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Annette Barry (née Leblanc) on Sunday August 11, 2024 at the Riverview Health Centre.

Mom was born Marie “Annette” Liliane in College Bridge, New Brunswick on June 2, 1936. Annette was the daughter of the late Wilfred LeBlanc and the late Annie Bourgeois.

Mom was raised in College Bridge, New Brunswick and after graduation, mom got a job with the government and moved to Fredericton. Mom and dad met when dad was stationed in Fredericton's RCMP detachment. They were married in October 1959. After a brief transfer to Ottawa, Mom and Dad made Winnipeg their home.

Mom stayed at home to look after the family and when the children were old enough for school, Mom became involved in many activities outside the home including; bowling, curling, golfing and playing bridge. Through these activities, mom and dad met a large circle of friends, many of which were like family. When Dad passed away, Mom spent more time traveling and wintered in Florida.

Mom will be sorely missed and be lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen, Lynn, Karen and Dean (Kate); grandchildren, Alexandria, Sean (Adria), Aaron and Liam; great-granddaughter Margaux; sisters, Rose-Marie, Marie-Claire (Don), Francine, and Rena (Don); sister-in-law Joan (Hollis); brother-in-law Robert (Sandy); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Vernon; and brothers, Dollard, Robert, and Maurice.

In keeping with Mom's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Mom, you're forever in our hearts, rest in peace.

Annette’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Annette, dear sister, you and I have travelled a very long path together and I'm thankful for every moment.

Thankful we could share ideas, hopes, joys and sometimes worries.

Thankful for a wonderful sister but also a very good friend.

Thankful for outings with family and friends, going skating on the lake, summers at the beach and so many more. I remember getting our first long dresses for our first ball.

Thankful our young families could meet occasionally, even though we lived so far apart.

Rest in peace dear sister

Love, Rose-Marie

Yes, many fond ❤️ childhood memories from those early St. Peter's days... Family gatherings, on Burrows or Jefferson, always involved food (my 1st intro to Fiddleheads) or playing cards - If I recall correctly - Canasta was our parents' game of choice !!! Big Hugs 🤗 to All...

Many wonderful memories of my dear friend Annette, i lived behind Annette at Town and Country RV Park in Florida and also was in the foursome playing golf together with Lovern Daniel's and Gladys Thomas and the two last people also were from Winnipeg. In the morning I remember taking my coffee over to Annette's but if she was reading the paper you didn't bother her until the paper was put down so I would go back to the trailer and wait a half hour and then went back and by that time I could go in because she had put the paper down. She was a wonderful, easy going, good golfer and a true good friend and where I met her other good friend who would fly down to visit and that was Pat Dunn and we had lots of fun and even golfed in the pouring rain. Rest in peace my dear friend until we see each other again and you will be truly missed.

Mémère, Sean and I will always remember your warmth and kindness when we met at your home two years ago. We are so grateful for the time we spent together in person, and for the keepsakes you sent for Margaux. We will miss your voice on the phone at Christmas.

Dear Annette, you will be sorely missed. I cherish the memories we made when "the sisters" visited you a few years ago: the conversations, the laughs, the food, the outings, a tipical LeBlanc get together. Rest in peace sister.
