ROBERT (BOB) HARRY BASISTY

June 11, 1961 – September 1, 2025

We sadly announce the passing of Bob Basisty on the 1st of September, 2025, at the age of 64 years.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Shannon (Peter), Kristen, and Lauren; his grandchildren, Chase and Carter; his nephew, Jonathan; and nieces, Candice and Darla.

He is reunited with his mother Stella; father William; brother Bill, and many uncles and aunties for whom he cherished.

Bob was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the 11th of June, 1961. He and his elder brother were lovingly known as Billy and Bobby by family and friends growing up. Bob spent most of his life in the North End of Winnipeg and visited family in Fisher River.

Bob was well-known for his incredible talent as an artist. He followed his passion for art and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (Honours). A highlight for him was visiting Chicago’s fine art museums. He loved the challenge of creating using various mediums, but he was especially skilled in the neo-impressionist technique of pointillism.

Bob had an adventurous side which included bungee jumping, but he also loved relaxing in nature, fishing, taking his family on camping trips in the Whiteshell area, and day trips to the beach. He was very knowledgeable and enjoyed a good debate. He loved taking the kids to museums and the library.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Jonathan Basisty for his kindness and care for Bob at the end of his life, and to the caring staff at Holy Family Home.

We hope that Bob’s relatives and friends take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories using the comment section on this page.

Donations can be made in Bob’s memory to Holy Family Home or the Alzheimer Society Manitoba in support of research in dementia and brain health.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to Bobby's family and to Billy's family with love and compassion.

Bill and I were very close as friends and we often spoke of Bob and his wonderful attributes as an artist.

I know that Bill and Bill Sr., Mom, Stella and Aunt Polly have welcomed him in the Spirit world with open arms.

You will be missed Bobby. God speed my friend.
