STELLA CECILE BASISTY

December 25, 1938 - October 21, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Stella passed away on 21st October 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg Manitoba the age of 83 years. Stella Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her partner of 24 years Bill Gates; children William and Robert; grandchildren Shannon (Peter), Candice (Eden), Kristen (Leroy), Jonathan Maija), Lauren and Darla; great grandchildren Big Kaden, Mason, Little Kaeden, Chase, Jackson, Bryler, Lachlan, Liam, Carter and Maja; and sibling Betty. She will be joining all her family in heaven who have passed before her. Mother Flora, Father Percy. Siblings Myrtle, Margaret, Earl, Arnold, Shirley, Marilyn and baby Edna.

Stella Basisty was born in Fisher River, Manitoba in the winter of 1938. With 2 Brothers and 5 sisters, Stella’s family home was filled with love. Stella spoke with great joy when speaking of her siblings and held them dear to her heart.

As a young woman, Stella moved to Winnipeg to a busier life. There she met her Husband William, with whom she had 2 boys. Her sons William (Bill) and Robert (Bob) were the center of her world. Again, in her married life family was her number one priority and took that responsibility as a high honour and wore that badge with great pride.

As her sons got older and she welcomed grandchildren into her life Stella was able to join the workforce with Fresh Water Fish. This became her home away from home. She made many friendships over the years working there, with one special person in particular. Stella met Bill while working at Fresh Water, and their relationship would last until her final days. She had found her best friend.

Stella had a special heart with a smile and laugh that could make a room light up. Her sense of humour softened the hardest of people. She was truly one of a kind and will forever be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A celebration of their life will be held 2:00 p.m. October 27th 2022 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road.

Stella's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

My deepest condolences to the family! Auntie Stella was a beautiful soul. She alway had a smile and a positive outlook. I considered her growing up as my second mom. I remember the times staying out all summer at Grand Beach with my mom, aunt Stella, Billy, Bob and Johnny, those were some of my earliest and fondest memories! Later on as a young man I had the opportunity to play bingo with my mom and Stella frequently and it was always so much fun! Especially when one of them were sweating on one number to win! She was also an awesome cook and my favorite of hers was her triangle shaped Bannock, mmmmmm! Rest in peace auntie, you were loved and will be terribly missed by all! ❤
