Olga Bazan

OLGA BAZAN
(née Petrash)
August 11, 1943 – November 19, 2025
With heavy hearts, our family announces the peaceful passing of Olga Bazan, who departed this world at the age of 82 in Winnipeg. Olga was a devoted wife, a cherished mother and grandmother, and a gifted teacher whose gentle spirit quietly illuminated every life she touched. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward; her children Dale, Deborah (Rob), and Neil (Lindsay); and her grandchildren Alexia, Austin, Fawna, Hailey, and Dylan. Each held a special place in Olga’s heart, and she found profound joy in watching her family grow and thrive.
Born in Teulon, Olga was predeceased by her parents, Dmytro and Pauline Petrash, and her siblings Helen, Gerald, and Steve.
From an early age, Olga displayed a deep curiosity and love for learning. After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba, she built a rich and varied career—first with Manitoba Telephone and Eaton’s, and later as a teacher for Winnipeg School District. When her children were grown, Olga pursued her passion for books and continued her studies in library science. She went on to serve as a teacher-librarian with the Winnipeg Board of Jewish Education, where she was admired for her patience, wisdom, and the quiet joy she found in nurturing young minds.
Olga will be remembered for her warm smile, her gentle humor, and a spirit rooted in kindness. Her love was steady, deep, and unconditional. The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the many condolences received, and to the compassionate staff of Riverview Health Centre for their care. We are also deeply grateful to Reverend Eugene Maximiuk of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Archdeacon Lauren Schoeck of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels for their prayers and comforting presence during Olga’s final hours.
An intimate memorial service will be held for close family and friends with details to be announced soon. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada at bloodcancers.ca or by mail to Box 9713 Station M, Calgary, Alberta, T2P 0E9.
