Joan Beauchamp

JOAN BEAUCHAMP
(née STUDLER)
July 18, 1938 – July 5, 2026
With profound sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of our mom, grandmother, and G.G., Margaret (Joan) Beauchamp, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, just short of her 88th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 2003.
Joan will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughters, Donna, Karen (Bob) Milani, and Patti (Pat) Berube; her beloved grandchildren, Matt (Kelsey) Beauchamp, Ashleigh and Braden Milani, Jenna (Matt) Matsubara, Stéphanie (Daniel) Berube, and Evan Berube; and her great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her later years, Will, Avery, Mackenzie, Brooke, Otto, and Viviane. She also leaves behind her brother Reg (Aenone) Studler, sister-in-law Rhoda Beauchamp, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Born July 18, 1938, Mom grew up in both Winnipeg and Woodlands, Manitoba. She married Dad on July 19, 1958, one day after her twentieth birthday, as she was determined not to be a teenage bride. Together, Mom and Dad built a wonderful life in the Fort Rouge community spanning more than 60 years. Mom chose to stay at home raising her girls while they were young. She re-entered the workforce as a bookkeeper at the Centennial Concert Hall before joining Dad at Osborne Vacuum, the family business that became a familiar part of the neighborhood for many years.
Mom was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Whether it was a sporting event, concert, school activity or an important milestone, she was there offering love, encouragement and support.
Gifted with remarkable creativity, Mom enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and flower arranging. She took enormous pride in her home, always finding ways to make it warm and welcoming. Whether carefully restoring woodwork, decorating, gardening or filling the house with seasonal touches, she created a home that reflected the love and care she poured into her family.
Retirement brought opportunities to travel, especially the winters she and Dad spent in Mesa, Arizona. After Dad’s passing, Mom continued to live independently in her home in Riverview until moving to a condo in 2020. She continued to enjoy her freedom of driving and going where she wanted to go until last November. She treasured the friendships she made while living at the Canoe Club, taking great pleasure in bridge games, enjoying the entertainment and social visits in the bistro. She remained deeply connected to family near and far through a busy schedule of regular phone calls, video chats and visits.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses, and health care aides at St. Boniface Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during Mom’s final day.
As longtime residents and active members of the Fort Rouge community, the family invites those wishing to honour Mom’s memory to donate to the Dr. Jack and Isobel Scurfield Memorial Scholarship (Churchill High School), administered by the Winnipeg Foundation. This scholarship held special meaning for Mom and also honours Dad’s legacy as a founding trustee.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of Mom’s life will be held.
Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad are reunited. She will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered.
