EVELYN (EV) BEAUDRY

(Née Guigueno)

April 6, 1945 – February 28, 2026

Evelyn (Ev) Beaudry (née Guigueno) passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on April 6, 1945.

She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2024; and her parents, Fred and Rose Guigueno. She is survived by her children, Danielle (Jared) and Paul (Heather); her grandchildren, Olivia, Journee, Jordynne, Braeleigh, Aubrie, Keirra, Jude and Ella; her brother Don (Pat), her sister-in-law Patti and nieces, Kerry (Toby), Kim; and great-nieces and nephews, Brady, Rorey, Caleigh and Reese.

Ev and Bob were married for almost 59 years. They enjoyed travelling, including trips to Europe, Hawaii, Canada and the US as well as several cruises. They especially loved cruising Alaska and the East Coast. They loved cats and had many over the years. She was a voracious reader and each home of theirs had a full library.

Ev and Bob welcomed their granddaughter Olivia in 2011 and loved their role as grandparents. They enjoyed taking her to skating and swimming, picking her up from school for piano and secret trips to Tim Hortons for Timbits. She loved reading to Olivia.

Ev was born in St. Claude and while young, the family lived in St. Agathe, Portage La Prairie, Vancouver then settled in Winnipeg by her early teens. She graduated from Glen Lawn High School in 1963 and went on to work for companies like Massey-Ferguson and TD Bank. Ev and Bob were married in 1965. They welcomed Paul in 1968 and Danielle in 1971. Over the years she had multiple careers. In 1979 she obtained her real estate license and started working for Block Brothers. After a few years and the ridiculous high interest rates of the early 80’s, she left real estate and went on to manage the office for Dr. Laurie Mestdagh, Chiropractor. Ev always sought a new challenge, so after three years, she and Bob bought an ice cream store called Dari-Works located near Kildonan Park in 1984. A few years later they relocated to Henderson Highway and renamed it I-C Treats where she continued to operate it until the early 90’s. Danielle and Paul worked there, consuming massive amounts of ice cream and slushes, who knows if it was profitable. Ev also employed niece Kerry and Danielle’s friend Chantal. After selling the ice cream shop, she decided selling jewelry sounded interesting. She joined the team at Al’s Jeweller’s on Marion Street and then went on to join Appelt’s Jewelry in St. Vital Mall where she was one of the top salespeople.

Due to health challenges, she retired in the late 90’s. As unique as she was, her health problems were also incredibly rare as she required a heart transplant. She received a new heart in July 2003 in Edmonton; the donor was a young 18 year old female from Alaska who passed away in a motorcycle accident and was thankfully a match. The transformation was incredible and she was with us almost 23 more years, which is well beyond the norm.

Ev loved gardening and had a great eye for decorating her homes, which was evident in their houses in St. Vital, St. Norbert, East St. Paul, Grand Marais and Pine Ridge. In 2003, she won the award for best yard in the Interlake Region, even though she was still recovering in Edmonton from her heart transplant and it had not been tended to in months. She would often have a great idea for Bob to build or create new gardens beds, gazebos, decks and interior renovations. Together they made a great team.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Extendicare Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their support over the past 2 years and especially during her last week.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 264 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB followed by refreshments and a light lunch. A private internment will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
