DIANE BELCOURT

With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of our beloved mother, Diane Belcourt. Following a short struggle with cancer, Diane peacefully departed from us in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 29, 2023, at the age of 74.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine and Emily, as well as her brothers Richard, Alan and Wayne. She is survived by her brother Perry, three children James, Cassandra, and Dana (Daniel), and her cherished grandchildren: Melisa (Anthony), Karleigh, Jordan, Toni Rose, and Samuel. Additionally, she leaves behind great-grandchildren Malia, Colton, Maddy, and Blake, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Known for her warm and friendly nature, Diane had a one-of-a-kind personality that endeared her to all who knew her. She had a vibrant and lively presence, bringing energy and life whenever she entered the room. Many joked that she would have excelled as a Walmart greeter, as she had a knack for striking up conversations with anyone willing to listen. A simple trip to the grocery store often turned into a social event, as she made her rounds, catching up with familiar faces.

Diane had a deep love for music, nature, and animals, particularly butterflies and geese. She was an avid fan of The Beatles, the Winnipeg Jets and no one made her laugh more than Russell Peters.

Her banana bread and cabbage rolls were legendary, and she took great joy in sharing her culinary talents with loved ones.

Above all, Diane was a loving, generous, and fun-loving soul with a kind heart. She dedicated herself to community engagement and had a passion for volunteerism. Throughout her life, she actively participated in various community initiatives, served on multiple boards, and selflessly gave countless hours to the community she called home for over four decades. The loss of Diane is devastating to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her absence will be deeply felt.

We extend our deepest thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to the compassionate staff, nurses, and doctors at Grace Hospital who provided exceptional care and support to Diane during her final days.

In accordance with Diane's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held exclusively for immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.

“Goodbyes are not forever, good-byes are not the end, they simply mean - will miss you until we meet again.”

“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.”
