ALEXANDRA "ALLIE" BENEDEK

Sadly and unexpectedly on November 5th, Allie Benedek passed away with her loved ones by her side.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa, grandson Eric (Sabrina), sister Julie (Bob), dear friend Karen and many other friends and family members.  She also leaves her furbaby grandchildren, Emma and Ella, who love you so much and miss playing with you every morning and giving you goodnight hugs.  Freyja, Mika, and Nova who loved you and would watch over you when you were under the weather.

She is predeased by her parents John, and Anna, husband Roger, daughter Suzanne, sisters Donna, Rosie, Gerri, and Jo-Anne, and brother Kevin.

Allie met the love of her life Roger at the age of 14.  Her sister Julie was first to know him.  He was the boy down the street with the “Beatles Haircut”.  They dated for 7 years before finally getting married.  They were married for 42 years before Roger passed away.

For the majority of her life, she was the caretaker of apartment buildings.  Most of those year, employed with W.R.E. Development where they became like family to her and Roger.  She worked for them for 40 years.  32 of those years were at Cameo House on Greenway Crescent W until she retired to look after Roger.

She and Roger both shared a love of music.  Elvis Presley was one of her favorites.  They had a collection of everything from records, cassette tapes, CDs, to music DVDs and memorbila.  Over the last few years we taught her how to use YouTube.  She would have her music constantly playing on TV.  She also loved listening to her mixed CDs made for her by her daughters and brother.

While at Cameo House, they made many friends with the neighbors.  Holidays were always a special treat around the building.  Halloween was spent with decorations galore, tenants gathering in the front for laughs and Allie handing candy to all.  Roger was usually around the corner scaring the kids as they came for their trick and treating.  Or scaring fellow tenants even more.

Allie was a talker.  Roger always told her that she could find someone to talk to in an empty room.  And she did.  During hospital stays she would always help and ease other patients that came in scared with her warm stories of her family.  Those stories will be missed by everyone.

A thank you to the staff at The St. Boniface Hospital ICU for doing all they could in the little time she was there.

A special thank you to Dr. Raza at the Westwood Clinic for looking after Allie when she started having mobility issues.  You were always there to help her just a phone call away.

Spend time with the rest of the family

Enjoy your peace up in heaven 

Dance with grandpa and sing with Kevin 

Suzanne will cook us all dinner someday 

So save me a chair and when it’s my time I’ll be on my way
