SUZANNE MARIE BENEDEK

March 22, 1970 - January 4, 2021

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Suzanne Marie Benedek on January 4, 2021.

Born on March 22, 1970 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Suzanne took the world by storm. She always marched to her own beat and never let anyone divert her from it. She attended elementary school at Arthur Oliver School, Junior High at Ness Junior High, and finally graduating from Argyle Alternative High School.   She would go onto spending a good amount of time visiting loved ones in Florida.

A lover of all things Star Wars and the Dark side – she too embodied both dark and light.

She did her best to learn from her lessons – both good and bad. She would be the first person to tell you she had made her fair share of mistakes, and she spent the rest of her life doing her best to atone for them.

When speaking with loved ones – Suzanne was something different for everyone. A lesson, a mother, a guide, a guardian angel, a sister, an aunt, a swift karmic kick in the ass, and most importantly a friend. When she gave you her heart, it was her whole heart. When you pissed her off, she wasn’t afraid to pull back – but she would never speak ill of you.

Sue had a taste for all things luxurious and wasn’t afraid to show it. She loved going to concerts, shows, events, eating the finest foods and top shelf elixirs, but her specialty was her parties. From Christmas, her favourite holiday, to Halloween or Ukrainian Easter, there was always a reason to celebrate with good people, food, and spirits.

Suzanne was always eager to support her friends and loved ones in whatever way needed. She would buy chocolate bars and donate to every cause. She would buy an extra meal and hand it to a soul in need.

In lieu of flowers, Suzanne has expressed wishes of donations made to Klinic Community Health at 167 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B6 - as they provided her much help and support throughout her years.

In her wishes she chose to be cremated. However, given respect to social restrictions at the time, a Celebration of Life is being planned on May the 4th 2021 – the unofficial Star Wars Day – with food, drinks and good people - in true Sue fashion. (More details to come.) In the meantime, Suzanne’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Suzanne is survived by her best friend Michelle, her mother Allie, sister Lisa, nephew Eric (Sabrina), and her gaybies Hannah and Jada.  Suzanne was predeceased by her dad Roger as well as numerous family members.

A special thank you to her dear friend Angela for loving and taking such precious care of Suzanne while she was at home.

May she be at peace and keep the party going until we meet again. Suzanne will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

Sue was always the cool cousin. She was probably the first kid I heard swear. Her humor would be so inappropriate you couldn't help but laugh - laugh and choke! She was giving to a fault. She loved the best but she also wanted the best for those around her. She was your friend for life and would defend  her loved ones with a grit and ferocity that couldn't be matched. I grew up wearing her hand me downs....I'm going to miss her. A lot.  I hope Heaven is ready because between her, your Dad and my Mom - it won't know what hit them. ❤

I had the great pleasure of growing up with Suzanne and then living in the same complex for years. She was always a kind and beautiful soul since she was little. Although we lost touch over the years I would always look forward to seeing her. Rest In Peace and condolences to her family and friends. Nicole Acedo (Laping) - San Diego, CA

Suzanne brought so much love into to my life, she was supportive of everything I hoped to accomplish and she was always there to give me the confidence I needed to move forward in life.  She was so good with words, she would just know what to say to cheer me up and to make me laugh. (Zenny) was also a great story teller, she would capture every detail of her experiences, life seemed so exciting around her. She has always impressed me with her kindness, she would not hesitate to help someone in need. She gave whatever she could to help someone struggling, she was thoughtful, she didn't like to think that someone might feel unloved or uncared.  I shall always remember her as the  вєαυтιfυℓ  soul that she was, and forever cheer the time that we have shared. Rest in peace Star Angel. Not a day goes by that I don't miss you ❤ x BC
