RON BEREZOWSKI

It is with tremendous heartbreak that Ron’s family announce his sudden passing on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Ron, the son of Mary and Peter Berezowski, was born on February 12, 1959, and grew up in Navin, Manitoba. With the exception of a few years, he lived on the family homestead of his grandparents, who immigrated to Canada in 1939. He was a great steward of this property and spent countless hours grooming and planting to keep it in pristine condition.

Ron worked for the Province of Manitoba at the Motor Carrier Division for 40 years before retiring in 2020. He was a regional manager from 1997 until his retirement, leading and mentoring a large group of Motor Carrier Enforcement Officers across Central Manitoba.

His retirement gave him more time to enjoy his passion for riding his bicycle. Although in recent years he was more of a fair-weather rider, he was able to ride almost every morning. He also enjoyed long walks with his three, spirited four-legged companions and could be spotted out in the neighbourhood at least twice a day, regardless of the weather.

Ron was very meticulous with everything that he owned, from vehicles, snowmobiles, bicycles, tools and yes, even lawn equipment. Chrome was his favourite colour. If it wasn’t “Ron” clean and shiny, he was out there with cleaners making sure you could see your reflection in it.

Ron was a very generous man and always thought of others’ comfort and needs before his own. It didn’t matter who you were; family, friend, neighbor, or stranger, they could all count on Ron’s help. Running to help the kids when he was needed, helping a delivery driver out of a snowdrift during a storm, or just making someone a welcoming cup of tea or coffee was something he had to do.

His memory will be forever cherished by his wife Jeanette (Jan) McKee, daughter Melissa (Dan), step-daughter Christine (Chad), step-son Michael (Leah) and six grandchildren: Hannah, Ben, Quinn, Mia, Wyatt, Lucas and his puppy pack, Ginger, Ruby and Rebel. Ron is also survived by his sister Pat (Lock), his niece Lizzy (Alex and family). Ron was predeceased by his mother in 2006 and his father in 2009.

The family would like to thank the 911 dispatcher, paramedics, fire department and hospital staff who tried so valiantly to keep Ron with us.  Special thanks to all the family, friends and neighbors who have been there for us as we transition to a life without our loved one.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s memory to the Humane Society, or a local pet rescue of your choice, as his love of animals domestic or wild was immeasurable.

Ron was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and doggie dad and will be missed by countless family and friends.

We will forever hold you in our hearts, Ron.

The family is planning a private memorial service. A casual Celebration of Life for Ron will be held at their home on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend. To R.S.V.P and obtain directions please email rpberezowski@gmail.com.

Dear Jan, Melissa and family. We join countless others in expressing our deep shock and sorrow in learning of Ron’s sudden passing. Words are insufficient to convey our sincere and condolences. We recall many happy Christmasses watching Ron’s childhood excitement while visiting with Pete and Mary at Navin. How pleased Bob was to see Ron at a John Deere dealership and discuss various tractors. How regretful we didn’t connect further following a recent gathering. This obituary and video are exemplary tributes to a gentle man. Our heartfelt sympathy. Bob and Sherry Harris

Jan, Pat, Melissa and families, we were so shocked and saddened to learn of Ron’s sudden passing, his obituary describes him and his life in Navin so well. His love and care for his family property, walking the dogs, bike, snowmobiling in early years and friendly wave will be missed. Ron also spoke up when things were not good for the neighbourhood. Dear Jan & family Just like everyone we’ve talked to in the Navin neighborhood & read here, we just cannot believe that Ron is gone!   Living close by, we would always see him walking his beloved dogs or riding his bike, always looking so trim & fit. His yard & lawn was so beautiful!  He was a kind and friendly guy who would always wave & smile! That’s a very well written obit and nice video (brought tears to my eyes).  So sorry for your loss.    Deepest condolences.

Dear Jan and family, Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute of Ron.  The video was so fun and the song...well... so fitting and brought me to tears. I miss visiting with him and the pups on my daily walk and chatting about what's going on in the neighborhood.   I am sorry I never got the chance to take my new bike out for a ride with Ron. I'll be thinking of him each time I ride. You know where we live - do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Take care - Darlene and Mario❤

Most of us cannot believe Ron is not with us anymore, such a healthy out going man. For me personally being cousins of same  age & interests  in past years used to spend a lot of time together playing a game of pool, bike riding , or just a simple cup of coffee on a regular basis. We lost contact over the years but we saw each other 1 year ago at my Mothers funeral. i was so excited to see him . he was so tanned, healthy looking, we both said we should get together  again to update each other on our last few years of our lives,i had planned to call him in my time off work in July, but it was too late, i was shocked to hear of his passing.I feel so  bad we did not get together .you never think to not put off  what can be done now when we have the rest of our lives to do it, we never know when our time is  up.Rest in peace Ron❤

To Jan and family, It is still so hard to fathom that Ron has passed.  So hard to accept that such a fit man, so full of life, is gone.  I have many fond memories of Ron that I will cherish, especially his caring nature and willingness to help (which I was a recipient of on more than one occasion).  I am glad that I was fortunate enough to visit with him shortly before he passed, all tanned and healthy looking after his bike ride, that is how I will remember Ron. ❤ Roberta
