ORM COLLIER BISHOP

March 18, 1958 – June 28, 2025

Orm Collier Bishop was born on March 18, 1958, to Harold & Bertina Bishop. He was the 7th of 9 children. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 nephew. Left to survive are his wife Gloria; sisters, Lynn, Velma, Noel (Jozsef), & Avery (Kevin); brothers, Harold & Aaron (Junko); sister-in-law Sandy Dueck and her family, as well as nieces and nephews.

In his early 20’s Orm received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. and on January 8, 1993, he married Gloria Dueck.

Orm was a curious child, always interested in knowing how things worked. So curious in fact that at one point he took his Dad’s HiFi apart. However, when taking things apart he was not prone to put things back together, and couldn’t understand why people got upset with him when their things were taken apart and then not put back together. This curiosity stayed with him his entire life.

Orm was also quite creative. One of the ways he was creative in was cooking, which he enjoyed, because he loved to eat. He always wanted to make his food taste great, and it needed to be displayed creatively on the plate. He was also creative musically. He liked writing songs as well as singing. He was never one to want the limelight. He always wanted to share that with someone else. It gave him great pleasure to share his musical talents and abilities with Gloria.

For many, many years Orm was a vocalist on the worship team at Church of the Rock. He did this as long as he was physically able. Not only did he share his musical talents and abilities with the worship team, but he will also be remembered for the gift of exhortation and encouragement that he shared freely with all who knew him.

Something of great importance to Orm was sharing his faith with others and praying with and for others. After receiving Jesus as his Lord and Saviour he had a love for the Lord and wanted to share that with everyone else.

Orm’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Orm was my uncle on Gloria's side of the family, and ever since his passing, I have been reminded of the incredible singing voice that man had, from all the posts people have been sharing on Facebook and elsewhere. But, the most interesting thing about that, in my opinion, is the fact that I got a front row seat to that singing voice most of my childhood, at family gatherings and other visits. He even sang a custom happy birthday tune to me every year, as only Orm could do!

Another way he touched my life goes back to 2017, when I was involved in a bit of an accident while driving down McGillvary Blvd in Winnipeg. It was Orm that came and not only brought me back home to Altona, but took me out for lunch at The Keg first and successfully calmed me down from the emotional trauma I was experiencing in that moment. I shall never forget what he did for me that day.

Orm was a man of great faith, and even when things were going sideways in his life, he never complained or spoke ill of his situation, and he was always asking how others were doing, and if he could pray for you. This is a life I want to try and emulate going forward, cause he was a true man after God's own heart.

And finally, to end on a fun and rather cool note, Orm was the one that originally got me into wearing Hawaiian shirts in the summertime, and even bought me a few for Christmas one year!!

Rest in peace uncle.

Until we meet again.

What a testimony he was! I remember singing with him on the worship team at Church of the Rock and having goosebumps (Holy Spirit moments) when he would be singing. He was an amazing man with many wonderful gifts! My thoughts and prayers are with you Gloria with the loss of Orm.

Orm was one of my closest friend. He was a rock of stability in my life and inspired me in many spiritual and practical matters. In later years most of our visits were in the hospital as he suffered terribly from various ailments. My goal would be to visit him

and encourage him but somehow the visits always turned around into him encouraging me..In difficult times

in my life he was a constant presence and we often had daily contact. The Lord used this man mightily in my life and countless others. Orm was a huge musical talent but chose to largely stay out of the limeligh.i did manage to coerce him into singing on a couple of my cd projects. One memorable song was somethiingwe co wrote called "We Get Lost" a beautiful tribute to his wife Gloria..if you have a chance give it a listen.its available on all streaming services. I had often hoped to do more musical work with Orm as his talent and creativity were unique..Orms commitment and surrender to Jesus had precedence over everything and I was very aware of Orm being used of the Lord in the lives of those around him. Although sadly missed and fondly remembered it is a relief to know that Orm is out of his pain and in the loving arms of our saviour.Farewell for now my great friend until we meet again...

Condolences to Gloria and family.

When I was a young, single mother, I met Orm and Gloria at Church of the Rock. They encouraged me many times. Years later, living in a different province, I was going through a particularly tough season and visited Church of the Rock on a short trip. I prayed that morning that God would meet my needs. I ran into Orm and Gloria at church and, without knowing what I was going through,

Orm took me aside and put $200 in my hand. He said the Lord had told him to bring it to church that morning, but he didn't know who it was for until he ran into me. This is the Orm I knew. Always talking about the Lord and always helping and encouraging others. He will be missed... until we meet again.

Orm performed in several musicals at Church of the Rock under the direction of Chickie. She would say he had a great gift of singing but needed freedom to soar, which she gave him.

Before every performance, Orm would pray for everyone in the cast. Even when movement was more difficult for him, he would ask what our prayer needs were. He was a humble and gracious servant of God and I was honoured to know him. He blessed us with his beautiful voice at our brother's funeral. He was a testament of faith. now he is truly promoted to Glory!!!
