I met Maureen years ago when I joined her boxing fitness classes in the basement of Crescentwood Community Club before she started up ITC. She was the most motivating instructor I have ever had and no other fitness class has ever compared to hers! She always made class fun and interesting. I remember she would come over if she saw you were taking too long drinking your water and say "Hey! stop spending so much time at the watering hole!" Of course it made you run back to your station and she would look back at me and give me the biggest smile and a wink when no one was looking to let me know it was ok. My condolences to your family and she will be truly missed.

Maureen was always fun and outgoing and motivating. When I joined the ITC gym my first class I didn’t know what I was getting in to, she noticed me in the corner slacking and not giving my 100% she changed that  real quick when she came over and said give me 10 burpees. I was not happy about it but I thanked her after. I know Maureen changed many individuals lives with her passion and work ethic and drive. My condolences to the family. You will be missed by many.   -Vlado

Maureen loved boxing, fitness and combative sports. I knew her from her duties as a Commissioner and we were friends from the first time I met her at a convention in Montreal years ago. She was the First Lady of boxing and was a gifted soul in that community. My condolences go out to her family and friends and I know we are all fortunate to have had Maureen be a part of our lives.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Maureen's family. As colleague of Maureen for less than a year, I feel like I have known her for 'years'. I relied on her at work and without fail, she always 'rose to the occasion' of getting things done. She was a 'trooper' that I depended on and, more importantly, could count on! This, coupled with her quick wit and warm openness contributed so much and positively to my work day.  Maureen certainly touched my life and will be fondly remembered.

Maureen we can't believe you are gone so suddenly. Your had such a ginormous passion for life and everyone in it. You made us feel like we could do anything we put our mind to, just like you. You introduced us to boxing, a life long love we carry on to this day. We shared a love of our families and even had a chance to bring our beautiful children together from time to time. We had so many days of boxing and nights of dancing - it was a wonderful time when our kids and bodies were young and able. We haven't seen each other for a while as our lives went separate paths for a spell. But we always thought we would share more laughs and memories together. Maureen we can't believe you are gone so suddenly. We will miss you in this world forever. We send all our love and wishes for strength and comfort to your children and family at this difficult time. May your memory be a blessing to all who love you.

Sincere condolences to Maureen's family on the passing of an amazing woman. Our family (me, my husband and two teenagers) attended Maureen's boxing classes at various locations over the years. She motivated and inspired us to be fit, healthy and strong. She is certainly gone too soon.

I remember Maureen as my first childhood friend when we were ages 4. We were across-the-street neighbours. I always had the utmost respect for her accomplishments in the boxing community, and for all of the people that she inspired. My deepest condolences condolences to her family.

I met Maureen at ITC when I began boxing. Maureen took me aside and encouraged me to come to the boxing fitness classes where she pushed us to our limits. She was a competitive, passionate and kind person who wanted the best for everyone. Thank you, Maureen, for being in my life.  My condolences to the family.  Frances Edye

Maureen was my best friend for almost 25 years. I remember when we met teaching fitness at Fit n Firm! We became fast friends who did as much as we could together. I watched all four of her children grow into the amazing adults that Maureen was so very proud of. We shared a love of tequila - I always remember never having lemon with it because Maureen always said “I don’t drink tequila with fruit!” I remember her passion for fitness but more so the joy she brought those who took her classes. My first introduction to boxing was at the PanAm boxing club on Pacific avenue on Thursday nights after which we would go dancing at whatever bar we favoured at that time. I have so many memories of the time I was privileged to share with Maureen, and honoured to have known her children, her family and multitude of friends. I will miss her fiesty, driven, generous soul. No matter the distance or time between us we always found each other’s friendship over and over. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time. “I get knocked down but I get up again!” A line from our favourite dance song. Rest in piece Maureen.

I am so sad to hear of your passing Maureen. I remember walking into my first boxing class with you I was both intimidated and inspired. I thought wow, this lady knows her stuff and won’t put up with none sense. If she says I can do it, I can!  Thank You for your support and inspiration.  Heaven has a new bright star 🌟 who will whip everyone  into shape. She’ll have everyone’s attention with her sincere spirit and smile.  You are so missed. RIP you wonderful woman you!  L Sediles

Condolences to Harry Black and all the Black family and friends. Maureen had an encyclopedic knowledge of Canadian Boxing and her passing is a huge loss for the professional sport of boxing in Canada.
