BEVERLY ELAINE BLACKMAN

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Beverley Blackman, on Monday, September 14, 2020, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Mom leaves to mourn her two daughters Susan Kjaldgaard, and Sharlene Holden (Darrell), her four grandchildren, Alana Holden and Kelsey (Sean) Carriere, Tyler (Lydia) and Erin Kjaldgaard, and one great granddaughter Charli Carriere.  She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charlie, her brother Brian, and her mother and father, Joseph and Mary Gallaher.  It gives us great peace to know Mom will be welcomed by our Heavenly Father, and all of her loved ones, who have gone before her.

Mom was born on June 3, 1937, and she spent most of her young life growing up in St. James.

On March 5, 1960 at Deer Lodge United Church, Mom married our dad, Charles Blackman. 

It gave Mom great happiness to partake in what others loved to do, and she spent much time with Dad enjoying cooking, camping, traveling, fishing, gardening, and decorating their home.  Many happy summer weekends were spent with family and friends, enjoying lake life at Ponemah Beach.  Mom also was an avid reader, and always had a book on the go.  She loved music and to dance.  Mom also had great interest in Horoscopes.  She was a Gemini, and loved discussing her knowledge of the traits of all the zodiac signs, with the people that she met. 

In Mom’s later years she enjoyed bowling, time with her family, weekly lunches with her Plan B group, and time with her neighbors on McMurray Bay.  Mom loved to join in on all social gatherings, and to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) with family and friends. As a dedicated fan, you could also find her cheering for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, at all their televised games.

She delighted at meeting her only great grand child, Charli, and with a huge smile on her face, she would proclaim, “She looks just like me.”

Although Mom had her struggles with her mental and physical health over the last several years, she always did her best to stay positive, and keep smiling.  Mom has always had great faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and it was this faith, along with her stubborn determination, that helped her get through all the difficult times in her life.

Mom loved her family and wanted nothing more than for everyone to find their happiness.

Much heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Maples Personal Care Home, who took the best care of Mom.  We take great peace of mind in knowing she was never alone when her family could not be with her.  

A graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 2pm, at the St Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery, 299 Balderstone Rd. West St. Paul, MB (Middlechurch). 

Social distancing will be observed; please wear a mask.  If it becomes possible, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. If you are able, please lift a glass of wine, in toast to Mom’s life and in her memory.  I know this small gesture would make Mom very happy.  

We love you Mom/Gramma, and will miss you every single day.
