Barry Blais
Linda Curtis
BARRY BLAIS: 1951-2025
LINDA CURTIS: 1944-2025
~
Barry passed peacefully on July 12. He was predeceased by his wife Linda Curtis in February 2025. Barry and Linda leave behind their son David Curtis Blais; and Barry’s siblings, Eric (Mary), Joanna, Paulette (Ron); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barry was the eldest son of Leo and Esther Blais (née Olafson). Linda was the daughter of Dudley and Mae Curtis.
Barry and Linda were married for 42 years and they lived most of their married life in the Wildwood area of Winnipeg.
Barry had many interests in his early years and if you were involved in the world of motorcycles and motocross in the 70’s and 80’s you probably crossed paths with him.
Barry worked primarily in car and motorcycle businesses. He ended his career working for Manitoba Public Insurance.
Linda had a varied career, having been a flight attendant, speech pathologist and ending her working life as a registered massage therapist.
Barry and Linda loved animals. They always had a dog and a cat or two. They fostered both kids and animals in their home over the years.
In their later years Barry and Linda were never far from each other and we are grateful that when their health declined they were able to continue to live together in Long Term Care. We are thankful for the care they received in Tuxedo Villa and from the many heath care workers who supported them in their home. If you wish donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Fort Gary Community Centre at 880 Oakenwald Ave.
Barry and Linda’s family kindly requests that all of their friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour their memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

We were neighbours with Barry and Linda when they lived on Somerset. We met because of their dog Geordie who always used to come across the street to greet us whenever we arrived home. I guess you can say he brought us together. They were both very kind and would be there for anyone in need, whether they were two or four legged. We wish them both peace in their rest. Our sincere condolences to the family and especially David, your mom and dad were lovely people and we are very sorry for your loss.

I worked with Barry at MPI. We often met for coffee and lunch. I enjoyed his company and his friendly nature. I'm grateful for his support during some difficult times in my life. Through Barry, I meet his wife Linda. She is lovely lady and kind spirit. My condolences to the Blais-Curtis families.

So sorry to read about Linda & Barry passing away. Our condolences to David & extended family. They were our neighbours when we lived in Fort Garry & we really enjoyed their company. They fostered our cats for two years when we lived in Northern Ireland & were always so kind to them. They surely lived an eventful life and contributed so much to make the world a kinder place to live. Rest in peace Barry & Linda.
