RODDY BLOCHLINGER

February 15, 1972 – March 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Roddy. Roddy battled cancer from 2024, and his pain was finally over on March 6.

Roddy is survived by his loving wife Heather; mother Carol; sister Aloisia (Wes); brothers, Tony and Richard; brother-in-law Sean; nieces, Shey, Ashtyn, Evangaleen, and Delaney; nephew Mason; and uncle Al. Roddy was predeceased by his father Anton; father-in-law Ken; mother-in-law Ruth; and his grandparents MacDonald and Thelma Tikasingh.

Roddy was the first child of Carol and Anton. Born in Saskatchewan, the family moved to Winnipeg in the late 1970s and settled in Windsor Park. Roddy’s childhood was filled with music, sports, and family get-togethers. Roddy and his sister Aloisia played card games and drank juice, pretending they were drinking beer, mimicking the adults. Roddy fished as a child, which he enjoyed as an adult as well. Roddy enjoyed coaching his nieces for their basketball teams. He dearly loved his family and spent as much time as possible with them, including birthday celebrations and barbecues in the summer.

Roddy loved the outdoors. He spent many summers at West Hawk Lake. He especially loved to fish, and of course ice fishing. Sports were also a major part of his life. Roddy went to many Winnipeg Blue Bombers games at the stadium—in the early years with his niece Shey, then brother-in-law Wes. Heather and Roddy enjoyed 13 years with season tickets. The Winnipeg Jets were also another team Roddy enjoyed watching. Many nights were spent yelling at the television. Did you know the players can hear you when you yell at the television? Roddy enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Roddy enjoyed having a good time and liked making jokes.

Roddy settled into the auto industry, where he worked for 20 years.

Heather and Roddy met watching a Winnipeg Blue Bombers game in 2005 at West Hawk Lake. After dating a few years, Heather and Roddy were married in 2011. Heather and Roddy enjoyed spending time together and going out for dinner. Next time you are at the Bombers stadium, raise a glass to Roddy.

The family would like to thank all staff at CancerCare Manitoba who cared for Roddy and extended his life a little longer. We would also like to thank the palliative care team and the staff at Riverview Health Centre for his final days. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Roddy’s name.

Cremation has taken place. The family encourages the sharing of stories, memories and condolences by using the comment section on this tribute page.

Rest easy Roddy,

‘til we meet again!

You are so loved!

Roddy was the most convivial of men. No matter the situation he looked for some joy and when he found it, he shared it with others. My deepest sympathies Heather. May his memory be a blessing.
