KYLE JOSEPH BOGERS

December 3, 1988 – July 29, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle on Saturday, July 29th, 2023, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 34.

Kyle was born in Winnipeg on December 3rd, 1988. He is survived by his parents, Hank and Nicki Bogers (nee Paley), brother, Dustin and sister, Dana (Clay, Emma and Gavin Ash) along with a number of close relatives and friends in Manitoba and New Brunswick.

Kyle attended St. Andrews Elementary School, Lockport Junior High School and graduated from Lord Selkirk Regional High School in 2008. As a youth, he was very involved in sports. He played hockey, baseball and soccer, and later, high school rugby and wrestling. He also developed a passion for karate which he shared with his dad. Kyle loved skateboarding, and was constantly practicing jumps and air walks with his friends in the driveway and making ramps. His idol was Tony Hawk and he could always be seen wearing Zoo York and Red Dragon apparel, along with his favorite red skateboarding shoes. In winter, snowboarding and snowskating were his pastimes. Kyle also loved playing guitar and could play by ear. The first song he learned to play was 'Sweet Child O' Mine' by Guns N' Roses.

In 2009, Kyle enlisted in the Canadian Navy. After graduating from training, he was posted to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the ship HMCS Fredericton. Kyle resigned from the Navy after 2 years. He enjoyed cooking and tried his hand at culinary school but was then off to Vancouver BC, where he was for several years, until he came home in November to be closer to family. Kyle had suffered and struggled with addictions for many years. He tried many times to overcome this horrible disease, however, was unable to.

Kyle was a warm and loving person, he was genuine and well liked wherever he went. He was caring, thoughtful, and compassionate. As a young boy, when he visited his grandmother in the care home, he freely gave hugs to all the other babas to brighten their day. He was known for his infectious, bright smile and often seen with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was a gentle person and loved animals (especially his cats). Above all things, Kyle was humble and always grateful and appreciative of all he had. He loved music, especially Guns N' Roses. Slash was his favourite musician. He enjoyed a variety of music genres, including classic rock such as The Doors and soft rock jazz like Van Morrison. Kyle enjoyed sci-fi and fantasy novels, movies and games. Some favourites were Warhammer, Halo, and the Vinland Saga.

Words cannot describe how much Kyle's presence will be missed by his family and friends.

The pain of losing you, Kyle, will never go away, but the love we shared is forever held deep within our hearts.

A backyard celebration of Kyle's life will be held on Thursday August 17, 2023, at 2:00pm at 37 Captain Kennedy Road in the RM of St. Andrews. Casual dress.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bruce Oak Recovery Centre, Siloam Mission, or Salvation Army.

We have no words to express the love and gratitude we feel for all the support we have received from friends and family during this difficult time.

Hi Nikki & Hank, our deepest condolences on your loss, how heartbreaking! Addictions can have devastating results, I witnessed one next door when I lived in North Kildonan, again it was a young man. The parents tried a number of addiction centres but to no avail. Hopefully we'll see you on the 17th.
