WILLIAM “CHARLES” BOND

September 11, 1967 - March 28, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Charles Bond on March 28, 2021 at the Health Sciences Centre.

Charles was predeceased by his parents, Blenus and Jane. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister Laura Bond (Gary Robillard); niece Ashley; nephew Tanner; as well as numerous extended family members.

Charles grew up in St. James and attended Spring Valley Middle School and John Taylor High School. His inquisitive nature ignited a passion for reading and he collected many books. He also loved music and spent much time listening to his favorite artists like David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop and others.

Charles attended the University of Manitoba where he studied film. It was there that he met his mentor and friend, Steve Snyder. They shared coffee and discussed literature and films at Charles' favorite coffee shop, Joe Black's. Charles had a number of health concerns over the years, and he was able to express his thoughts and feelings by writing poetry and drawing. His mother was proud to display a framed copy of a poem Charles wrote for her for Mother’s Day one year.

Charles will be greatly missed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no service will be held at this time. A private celebration of Charles’ life will be held when it is possible to gather. In the meantime, Charles’ family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.

Donations may be made in Charles' memory to Diabetes Canada.
