EDITH BONNER

August 4, 1946 – September 19, 2024

With heavy hearts and much love, the family of Edith announces her passing on September 19th, 2024, at the age of 78.

Edith is survived by her three children and numerous grandchildren: Denise Stewart (Dave), and grandchildren, Ryan, Evan (Kelly), Bryden (Samantha), and Aislyne (Kyle); David Armishaw (Rhea), along with grandchildren, Nolan, Avery (Mitchell), and Gillian (Eric), as well as step-grandchildren Jacob, Lily, and Sanna Mulvihill; and Rob Armishaw (Brenda), with grandchildren, Ethan, Taryn, and Kayleigh.

Edith is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lynda and Lonni Gullen; and many nieces and nephews.

Edith was predeceased by her parents, Reg and Verna Vining (née Bradt); her husband, Bob Bonner; her brothers, George and Fred Gullen; and her niece, Kathy Woods, (née Gullen).

Born and raised in Rivers, Manitoba, Mom spent her early years there, with Rivers always holding a special place in her heart, particularly because of her Grandma Bradt. The family later moved to Portage la Prairie and then to Winnipeg, eventually settling in Transcona.

As time went on, Mom met and married Garry Armishaw while they were stationed in Winnipeg with the military. In 1966, they welcomed their daughter Denise, followed by David in 1970 while living in Red Deer. After leaving Alberta in 1974, Mom, Denise, and David returned to Winnipeg, where the youngest, Rob, was born.

In 1975, Mom met the love of her life and soulmate, Bob Bonner. After what seemed like the longest courtship in history, they finally married in 1990. Sadly, Bob fell ill and passed away in 1995. Following his death, Mom moved in with Denise, Dave, and their family, where she lived for over 22 years.

In 2017, Mom moved to East Park Lodge in Transcona, where she enjoyed making new friends, playing Bingo, and making her new home " a pretty place". For the last 17 months, she resided at Riverview Health Care Centre on Unit 2 West. Both she and Denise were deeply grateful for the exceptional care and attention provided by the staff, many of whom became like a second family to us. We will always be thankful for everything they did for her.

Mom’s greatest joy and love were for her three children and many grandchildren. She had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes, a love she passed down to all of us. Her favorite activities included watching movies with popcorn, dining out, listening to music, and shopping for purses, jewelry, and anything that sparkled. She enjoyed good jokes, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.

Your wings were ready,

but our hearts were not.

Love you forever.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Edith’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

So sorry to hear of Edith's passing. My condolences to all her loved ones. Although we are cousins, miles stood in the way of our having a closer relationship and for that I am deeply sorry. I pray that you are with the angels now.

Edith was always a loving welcoming person. I enjoyed spending time in her home many times as a teenager, and through out the years. Miss you.
