SHAUN DAVID BOOTH

March 30 1985 – March 15 2021

On March 15, 2021, at the age of 35, Shaun David Booth bravely ended his fight with cancer.  Shaun battled the demon for 558 days, with his determination, strength and grace.

Shaun was surrounded by his wife, Kelly Booth, his parents, Kevin Booth (Belinda), Carol Van Niekerk (Gord), family and friends on his last day as he continued to share messages of love throughout to all.  He was truly an inspiration and everyone around him felt the honour he had given to them.  He was predeceased by his sister Kerry Freese who was patiently waiting to welcome her brother with his new wings.

Shaun was born in South Africa and moved to Canada in his late teens.  He was passionate about the sport of Rugby during his teenage years which he continued to play in Canada with the Wasp Rugby club in Winnipeg.  Shaun was also a proud member of the Manitoba Gun Dog Association with his field trial retrievers, Charlie and Storm.  He always made a special retrieve for his leading lady Lexi.

While Shaun’s wings were ready, many of the people who hold Shaun in their hearts were not.  He may have been with us for 35 years, but his life was that of 1000.  The way he died, was the way he lived each day, by his own rules.

“Nothing But Blue Skies Brother”

A small service will be held on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021.  In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made in Shaun’s name to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.

We never had the fortune to meet Shaun, through stories from Kevin and the huge amount of courage over the last year, it is my loss not to have done so. Our deepest thoughts and condolences to Kelly. Sort of cousin. David Booth.

While never meeting Shaun, he was obviously a person with great character and high standards having married Kelly. Condolences to Kelly and family

I met Shaun through work. We had tonnes of laughs and shared endless stories together. Nearly every Shaun Booth memory I have makes me smile, and reminds me of his. The first time I ever practical joked him, I thought he would take me apart piece by piece, turned out he was just a large, fun loving teddy bear. I'm crushed by this news.

Had the pleasure or working with Shaun and through work becoming a friend.  One of the good ones, he always left a good impression. When he and my 8yr old daughter first met, he lifted her high in the air and called her a 'tank'  she laughed as hard as I could remember, from that moment she's had a spot in her heart for the guy. That's the kind of effect he had and his laughter and friendship will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear about Shaun. I knew him as a fellow club mate from the Winnipeg Wasps rugby club. He was a very kind and easy going man. I really enjoyed watching him play and was proud that he was a member of our club.  I can only imagine the heart ache you all must be feeling.  Thinking of you all during this time and sending you prayers of peace and love to help carry you through this difficult time.

I am so so sorry to hear about Shaun' s passing. I worked with Shaun on Delta Waterfowl' s Winnipeg Chapter fundraising events. He had endless energy and commitment to whatever he was helping with. We are going to miss his enthusiasm and his infectious laugh. Rest in Peace Shaun!

Every once in a while you meet someone you have some kind of  affinity for. Sean was that kind of person even though we probably disagreed more than agreed on things. But Sean loved dogs the outdoors and hunting and that was good enough for me .we only shared a few beers and I wish it would have been many more. Now you’re in a painless place and that’s good enough for me. I’ll miss you... Colin mcmichael

To have been a small part of your life in your childhood and early teens has made my memories of you a BIG part of my life. See you on the other side one day and we can do that hunt together. Give a big hug to Kerry for me ❤

Hi Babe,  2 months has passed and it feels like only yesterday you were here.  I would give anything to go back to our first date when you fell asleep, or when I asked you to come and tow me out do the ditch at 3:30 in the morning to just send you home.  We knew from the start we were going to have an amazing journey together.  Wish I could get one of those great big bear hugs from you, but for now I will get our three for babies to fill in.  Charlie, Lexi and Storm are doing great, but I know they would also give anything to see your face walk through the door.  Love you Shaun 💙💙💙
