TERRY BOUTANG
(née Owens)
April 14, 1931 - February 22, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Terry Boutang (née Owens) on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the age of 93 with her children by her side.
Mom was born and raised in Vassar, MB and lived there until she moved to the “big city” to work and live with her sisters. Mom worked for Moores Business Forms and Great West Life until she retired in 1991. After retiring she volunteered with her dear friend May at the Children’s Festival, MTC and also did sick visiting weekly at St. Boniface Hospital. Mom was also an active member of the Norwood Legion.
Mom loved spending time visiting with all her family and friends. She enjoyed baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for all of her kids big and small, playing cards especially crib, watching her Blue Jays play baseball, wrestling and curling, playing bingo at the lake, the casino and travelling whenever she could, especially in the RV. A favourite place for mom was at the lake where she spent endless summers for 55+ years enjoying family time, the beach and the outdoors.
She is predeceased by Norman Boutang and Walter Spicer; her son Leveret Boutang; grandson Josh Boutang; her parents, Andrew and Evelyn Owens; and her siblings, Agnes Douglas, Olive Pelland, Edward Owens, and Rita Milewski.
She leaves to mourn her passing, son Channing Boutang (Colleen); daughter Careen Simoes (Jack); son Dudley Boutang; and daughter-in-law Donna Boutang. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Sheldon Simoes, Courtney Smorhay (Ryan), Nick Simoes (Josee), Kailey Boutang, and Brett Boutang (Jayme); as well as her great-grandchildren, Makenna and Austin Smorhay, her little loves. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
We would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for the exemplary care that was given to our mother.
At our mother's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private ceremony will be held in the summer.
Terry’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

What a beautiful and caring person! We worked with her at Great West Life for a number of years. After she retired, we still got together once a year. Knowing her for about 40 years and still keeping in touch with her, very special. Our deepest sympathy to the family for your loss. ANOTHER ANGEL IN HEAVEN!
