Margaret Bovens
MARGARET ANNE BOVENS
(née MIZAK)
October 17, 1949 – January 6, 2022
It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our sister Margaret Bovens on January 6, 2022 at the age of 72.
Margaret is in the loving arms of our mother Frances Mizak who left us on January 4, 2022.
Margaret grew up in Winnipeg and in her early 20’s moved to Terrace B.C. where she met and married the love of her life Joe.
Margaret spent her career in Terrace working for B.C. Hydro and C.P. Air.
Margaret was an outgoing, loving spirit who put everyone before herself. You were always greeted with a warm smile and a huge hug. She surrounded herself with her family and many friends. Enjoying many group dinners and several visits from out-of-town family, Margaret and Joe’s home was like a hotel where everyone was always welcome.
Her love of cooking, canning and gardening ensured that food was always warm, comforting and the best. Margaret loved camping and traveling, spending many years traveling throughout Canada, United States and Europe.
Margaret and Joe eventually moved back to Winnipeg to be close to family. For a time, she worked at the Winnipeg Convention Centre which was perfect to fulfil her social butterfly ways. She loved working the events and meeting people from many different places and backgrounds. She would talk at length of her adventures. Margaret never missed a family celebration.
Margaret will be forever missed by her brothers, brother in laws, sisters and sister in laws: Peter Mizak (Val), Robert Mizak (Sheila), David Mizak (Dorothy) Linda Bumstead (Ken), Gordon Mizak (Jill), Kathy Chapiel (Lawrie), and Rodney Mizak (Karen).
Nieces and Nephews, Michael, Derek, Jason, Kyle, Robbie, Shelley, Danny, Angel, Kevin, Colin, Kendra, Erin, Katie, Tyler, Jennifer, Eric, Kaya, Jarod, Alex and their families; as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Margaret made a profound impact on all our lives. Her love for her family and especially her nieces and nephews will forever be held deep in our hearts. Her laughter, joy and sense of humour will carry us through this time of sorrow. Though Margaret faced many health challenges she never wavered in her strength and resilience.
Predeceased by her loving husband Gerardus (Joe) M. H. Bovens (2020), Father Peter Mizak (1994), Mother Frances Mizak (2022)
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, in the meantime, Margaret's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Lupus Canada, or a charity of your choice.
We gratefully acknowledge the Health Sciences Centre and the Health Sciences Centre Dialysis Unit for the care and compassion our sister received over the years.
You will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed. You are now at peace.
