SYLVIA BREMNER

February 21, 1961 - April 7, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Sylvia Bremner, 61, peacefully passed away on April 7, 2022, with her daughters by her side, after a private and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Sylvia is remembered by her daughters Lyryk (Christopher) Johnston, Mya (Harley) Murdock; former partner and father to her surviving children Donald Ranville; stepsons Donovan (Sabrina) and Michel (Danielle) Bruyere; her eight beloved grandchildren (and one on the way); brother Adelard (Cathy) Bremner; Father-in-Law Harry Anderson; her nieces and nephews; her dear friend Frank Seepish; and countless extended family and friends.

She joins her son Jozsef (Joey) Bremner; parents Florence Anderson and Emilien Bremner; brothers Robert and Roy Bremner; and sister Sue Bremner.

Sylvia was a fiercely devoted and dedicated mother to all her children. She always put them first and made sure they were ok. She was always there when they needed her the most and was a great listener even when she had her own challenges. Not a day went by where Sylvia did not talk about how much her children, grandchildren and family meant to her. Family came first and was more than anything else to Sylvia, a value she instilled in all those around her. Being a grandmother especially was one of the most important parts of Sylvia’s life, a role that gave her pride and joy.

Sylvia worked at various jobs throughout her life growing up and spent over 15 years working as an employee at Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation. She was a diligent and hard worker and enjoyed keeping herself busy. She made long lasting friendships with her co workers during her time there.

Sylvia was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. Her meat pies and chili macaroni were always an unforgettable favorite.

Sylvia loved spending time outdoors in the warmth of the sun, feeding the birds, and going for long walks around the track with her friend Frank. She loved animals, especially her two grand fur babies “Lady bug” and “Little Lucy” as she would lovingly call them. She enjoyed playing bingo with her family and friends and going for lunch dates with her daughter Mya and getting their nails done together.

During the last seven years of her life, Sylvia mourned the sudden loss of her son Joey, and her pain and grief was indescribable. She was one of the strongest and most courageous women we have ever known, and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to Riverview Health Care staff, especially those on Unit 3E for their compassionate care during Sylvia’s final days.

Sylvia will be most remembered for her strength, resilience, infectious laughter and finally her gentle, loving, and caring soul. She will be forever missed.

In accordance with Sylvia’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Sylvia’s

memorable life is forthcoming.

Sylvia’s family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching her photo-biography above. Please consider sharing your photos, memories, and stories you have with her on the comment section of this page.

“In tears we saw you sinking,

we watched you fade away,

you suffered much in silence,

you fought so hard to stay.

You faced your task with courage,

your spirit did not bend,

but still you kept on fighting

until the very end.

God saw you getting tired,

when a cure was not to be,

So He put His arms around you,

and whispered, "Come to Me".

So when we saw you sleeping

so peaceful, free from pain,

we could not wish you back,

to suffer that again.

You didn't deserve what you went through,

So He took you home to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful,

For He only takes the best.”
