CHRISTOPHER (DALE) BREWSTER

February 26, 1975 – May 7, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dale Brewster on May 7, 2026, at the age of 51.

Christopher Dale Brewster, beloved son to Diana and Lloyd Brewster, was born on February 26, 1975, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Dale came home to Arnold Avenue in the Lord Roberts neighborhood, joining his older sister Patricia and brother Dennis. It was there that he spent 11 years enjoying a childhood full of road hockey games, climbing trees, riding bikes, and attending Lord Roberts Elementary School.

From a young age, Dale’s love of sports was unmistakable. His passion, especially for hockey, was matched only by his remarkable memory for statistics and facts. He began playing hockey with Lord Roberts and Grant Park Harrow, and later with the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins during his teen years. Though not the biggest player on the ice, Dale played well above his size and was a fearless, determined competitor. He also loved baseball and was a talented pitcher, earning the honour of being the flag bearer for his region at the 1987 Manitoba Summer Games.

After the family moved to Berwick Place in the summer of 1986, Dale showed his strong work ethic early, earning spending money delivering flyers and the Winnipeg Free Press. Many summer hours were spent playing baseball with friends at McKittrick Park. Dale went on to attend Churchill High School, in 1987 and played four years of football for the Bulldogs becoming a key member of the 1992 undefeated Provincial Championship team and twice being selected to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Blue and Gold all-star game. Dale gave back to one of the sports he loved by spending many years as a minor hockey official, working across several leagues, including the MJHL and MMJHL.

Dale met the love of his life, Laurie, in 1996 and quickly became part of the Wilson family. Together, Dale and Laurie began their journey in a modest 650 square foot home on Morley Avenue in Lord Roberts. Dale and Laurie were married in 2000, and 3 years later they welcomed their son, William. Their family grew again 3 years later with the arrival of their daughter, Taylor. This was Dale’s foundation, and he loved his family deeply and without condition.

Dale and Laurie raised their family on Bailey Avenue in St. Vital before later settling on Prudhomme Bay in River Park South. During this time, they purchased a cottage lot in Belair, Manitoba, which quickly became Dale’s passion project and his happy place. He devoted thousands of hours to building the family cottage, and when a project was finished, there was always another idea taking shape. Dale loved the cottage and cherished the time spent there with family and friends, enjoying the beautiful setting he worked so hard to create.

Dale and Laurie shared a love of travel, especially escaping to warm destinations during the winter months. Mexico became a favorite place for them, a destination they enjoyed often with their children and a close circle of wonderful friends. These trips were filled with laughter, friendship, and time well spent together. Dale was deeply grateful for the friendships in his life and felt fortunate to be surrounded by such a loyal, supportive, and fun loving group of friends who meant so much to him.

Dale’s deep love for his family was reflected in everything he did, from coaching minor hockey for his son William to spending countless hours cheering on his daughter Taylor at ringette games. That same care and dedication extended to his wider family and friends. Dale was always there when someone needed help, no questions asked.

Dale spent over 20 years working in the telecommunications industry, beginning as an installer with Videon Cable then Shaw Cable and later with Seine River Telecom, where he worked until the time of his illness in 2025. He took pride in his work and was known for his reliability, and strong work ethic.

Dale faced his battle with Glioblastoma with the same practical determination he brought to every challenge in his life. He fought bravely, never complained, and understood the odds, yet remained fearless throughout. Though once again the undersized competitor, Dale battled with strength and courage. He was never alone in this fight. His team, led by his devoted wife Laurie and supported by his loving family, stood beside him every step of the way.

Sadly, Dale lost his battle on May 7th, 2026 at Riverview Health Centre, with his family by his side. Dale’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at CancerCare Manitoba, HSC and Riverview Health Centre, as well as to the many colleagues, family and friends who supported them in so many meaningful ways over the past year.

Dale will remain in the hearts of his immediate family Laurie, William and Taylor. He will be missed deeply by his mother Diana (Bruce), father Lloyd, brother Dennis (Shannon), and sister Patti (Gord). Dale will be remembered and loved always by his mother and father in law Ron and Fran and brother in law Kevin (Erin). Dale was also loved dearly by his nieces and nephews Regan, Avery, Ty, Kailey and Connor.

Dale will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, his deep love for his family, and, most of all, for simply being a good guy.

Please join us to celebrate Dale between 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026 between at Dakota Community Centre Upper Hall. Brief ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. Cash Bar.

Dale was more than just a neighbour, he was an uncle to me. Always cracking jokes and wanted to know everything that was going on in my life. Growing up bbesife the Brewsters, we always had dale to throw a football with or make us the best snow forts ever. whenever my dad needed him, he was there to help (and also crack jokes about how old Todd is). Grateful to have such amazing neighbours that I can call family. I love you guys❤️

Dale was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We grew up together attending Lord Roberts Elementary and later Churchill High School, we shared countless memories on sports teams over the years. Dale was truly one of a kind, a great athlete, a hard worker, a devoted family man, and someone who could always make us laugh. He had a silly sense of humour and a personality that people naturally gravitated toward.

No matter how much time passed, the memories and friendship always remained. Dale touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. My thoughts are with his family and all who loved him.

Every time I saw Dale he ALWAYS made me laugh. It is still very difficult to believe that he is gone. I am grateful for all the times I got to spend with him and his family in his happy place (Belair); and when I lived in Winnipeg near him. all the times we spent laughing and visiting on a weekend night with school parties arranged by Laurie. He really was the epitome of a "good guy" who you knew would always help in any way he could. Rest in peace Dale; you will be missed.
