DOUGLAS WILLIAM BROSZEIT

February 19, 1955 – July 12, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas William Broszeit on July 12, 2020.

Doug was born on February 19, 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He is survived by his son Steven; brothers, Rick (Maria) and family, Brian (Cheryle) and family, and Wes (Elaine). He was predeceased by his parents Helmuth (Hal) Alfred Broszeit and Marion Shirley Broszeit and sister Debbie Sieben.

The family wishes to thank Victor Olafson for his 15-year friendship with Doug.

Over the years, Doug’s employment history contained an assortment of positions including British Columbia Railroad, OEM Drives Ltd, Government of Manitoba, Royal Canadian Legion in Keewatin ON, periods of self-employment, Willmar Windows, and Accurate Dorwin. In the 1980 edition of the Red River Community College yearbook, the following poem Doug wrote was published:

There is

a small death we suffer

through sleep.

Sometimes

I get scared

refuse

to close my eyes.

Comfort

is scarce

forgiveness

is lost,

In tomorrow

there is

sometimes

comfort.

The pictures brought back good memories of us growing up. My last fond memory was at Debbie’s wedding- we danced up a storm! He was always a kind, gentle soul. Always loved. Heather Gudmundson (cousin)
