Imah Browne

IMAH MAUDE BROWNE
September 25, 1932 – October 18, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved Imah Maude Browne, who passed peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the early morning of Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Imah is survived by her loving daughters Bridget Browne and Hyllerene Jarvis (Norman), her grandson Byron, granddaughter Crystal, and great-granddaughter Nicholynn. She is also survived by her dear sisters Laurel, Catherine (Delacy), Ester and Ethlyn and cherished nieces Erika and Stacey; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and close friends who will remember and miss her deeply.
Born in 1932 in the Parish of Saint Philip’s, Antigua, Imah spent her early years surrounded by the warmth of family and community. It was there that she learned the lifelong values of hard work, kindness, education, cooking, and faith. Principles that guided her throughout her life.
She immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, seeking new opportunities and continuing her education. With determination and grace, she completed her Health Care Aide course and earned certifications in Home Care Attendant Training, Literacy, and Public Speaking. She dedicated her career to caring for others as a Home Care Attendant & Care Aide, where her compassion and devotion touched the lives of countless clients and families. Her commitment to excellence earned her heartfelt appreciation and Long Service Recognition from her former employer Health Sciences Centre.
A woman of unwavering faith, Imah was baptized as a Seventh-day Adventist. Her life was defined by service to God, to her family, and to those in need. She gave generously to many organizations and sponsored children around the world, living her belief that faith must be expressed through action. Her devotion to God and her love for others were matched only by her love of cooking, which she used to bring people together and share her warmth with all who entered her home.
What made Imah truly special was her kindness, humour, and straightforward honesty. She never hesitated to share wise, thoughtful advice. Her late-night phone calls, her laughter, prayers, and her love for children brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew her. She was known for her delicious cooking especially her fried dumpling, refreshing sorrel and ginger beer, and her Christmas bun and cake. Her welcoming spirit and her gift was making every person feel valued and cared for.
She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and true friend. A woman who would give her last penny or meal to help someone in need. Her strength, generosity, and faith made her a constant source of comfort and wisdom. The memories she created will remain forever in our hearts.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the all the Doctors and staff of St. Boniface Hospital, as well as all friends and family who offered love and support during her final days. Special thanks to Benji and Lucille, who lovingly included her as part of their family and visited her home daily to ensure she was comfortable and cared for as well as her other neighbours who helped any way they could. Their kindness, companionship, and willingness to help with anything around the house meant the world to her and to all of us.
In keeping with her wishes, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Transcona Seventh-day Adventist Church 133 Regent Ave. E Winnipeg, MB R2C 0C2. The service will also be livestreamed for family and friends who are unable to attend in person at the following link:

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her dear friends Marie, Jean, Daphine, Barry, Pam, Orville, Brother Mark, Francine, Tony, Gail, Olsen, and Pastor Layne along with other members of the church congregation and the sixer's group, for their love, prayers, and generous support in arranging Imah Maude Browne’s celebration of life, and for their bedside prayers and visits during her time in the hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Alzheimer Society, a charity of your choice, or to an organization that supports children, religion, or community health care services, causes that were close to Imah’s heart.
Friends and family are invited to share their memories, photos, and messages of love and remembrance in her honour.

Imah had a great sense of humour and great outlook on life. She was a good neighbour and loved to chat with us or the kids through the fence or in the front yard.
We would often hear her play her organ through the wall we shared, and we enjoyed her beautiful flower garden.
We wish the family comfort and peace, and were sorry to hear of her passing.

I never met Aunt Imah in person, but we became aquainted on face book and would check in on each other and speak regularly. She last spoke to my mom, her sister Esta, and I shortly before her last birthday and said she prayed that God would spear her life to see her birthday. She always had an encoraging word. Will miss her greetings on fb. Rest in peach aunt Imah. We never met in person here but hope to meet her when the dead in Christ shall rise and we meet in heaven.
Also condolences to her children from her sister Esta
