JOSEPH BROZA

June 19, 1930 - May 12, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father Joseph Broza, on May 12, 2024 at Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) Care Home, at the age of 93 with his family by his side.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Brenda, Sharlene, and Jason. He is survived by his brother John, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Nellie; his parents, Joseph and Rosalie; sisters, Rosemary, Genevieve, Angeline, and Mary; brothers, Anton, Ted, and Cas; nephews, Gordon, Ryan, Ken, Kelly, and Stanley; as well as niece Vicky.

Dad was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba in 1930 and lived and worked on the family farm until moving to Winnipeg where he met his wife Nellie of 55 years of marriage and had three children and resided in Windsor Park. He was employed at Canada Packers for 42 years until he retired.

Dad was a loving father who always had time for his children and family. He gave us so many wonderful memories. Every winter dad would flood the backyard to make an ice rink for us kids to skate on. He would take us and our friends to Birds Hill Park where we spent endless hours tobogganing down the big hill just laughing.  He was a strong and hardworking person who was always active and on the go. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, sports, coaching and umpiring baseball. Dad also enjoyed the horse races, playing cards, crib, bocce ball, painting and loved listening to country and Ukrainian music.

The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare and especially the staff at Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) Care Home 5th Floor for the wonderful care and compassion he received. Cremation has already taken place at his request and a private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of MB.
