Remembering Fred is a very easy thing for me to do because he was so memorable. Fred was a funny, charming, kind and generous man, who celebrated life every day. He knew how to make everyone around him feel very special. I remember my younger years and how Fred would have me crying with laughter over his antics. He looked forward to making people laugh and he was so good at it! Never one to boast about his accomplishments, Fred was certainly one of the most accomplished and talented people I have had the pleasure to know. I have lived away from Winnipeg for many decades now, but seeing him and you, Helga, on trips home were always a highlight for me.  To my dear friend, I wish you, Lorraine and Harold strength on the loss of your husband, father and father-in-law. Fred will be deeply missed. With our most heartfelt condolences, Jacqueline & Gabriel DiMattia

My condolences to Helga ,Lorraine and Harold.  Being my older brother Fred and I go back 70 years; and I also considered him as a best friend. I'm so grateful for the fond memories and time spent together.  Growing up he was always there.  We would go to movies or play pool then go for a toasted cinnamon bun 😋 afterwards.  Then in the late 60's and throughout the 70's all the boating, fishing and hunting adventures. It was a great time included with his humor and I'm so glad Fred was there . Hunting was rough though;freezing rain damp cold . Driving half the night to get there at first light. Then later in the season getting stranded in snow storms or highway whiteouts, freezing ,getting stuck in the middle of nowhere.  But all in all it was a great time. At the end of the season we'd usually ask each other why are we doing this.  Then the following year weeks and months prior to the next opening date we would be excited and planning for our next adventure.  I remember working with Fred at Superlite in the 70's. He was foreman there at the time and so well liked by everyone . Fred was amazingly gifted mechanically and so talented in art and design.  I could say so much more;and left now with so many happy memories.  Thank you big brother and may you rest in peace.  Love and Miss you. Your kid brother.  Hans.

Our sincere condolences to Helga,Lorraine and Harold. In my younger years in Germany I remember him as a prankster, telling me that the man in our radio was tiny and real and would only come out at night, he managed to take tiny out and tell me tiny was very angry now.I ran and scared to fall asleep of tiny running around only to find out that tiny was a figurine. We have great memories of when Helga and Fred came to visit us in Vancouver.Tony and Fred would go out and come back with the funniest stories about what happened on their outings. Best memories to keep us laughing      You will always be in our thoughts Fred

Condolences to Helga, Lorraine and the rest of the family. I only had the privilege of meeting Fred once. Fred and Helga were selling their home about 7 years ago and Lorraine knew that we were looking for a home. We were invited to view the house with Fred and Helga. They showed us all around the house and at the end they made sure we left with full stomachs. Such a caring, friendly couple. I see where Lorraine gets it from. RIP Fred.❤
