HELGA ELLY BRUENGER

1930 – 2024

Helga passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on January 10. She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred of 66 years.

Born 1930 in Berlin Germany and came to Canada in 1957 where she worked in positions in the medical field until her retirement in 1994.

She will be remembered for her love of people, animals, her kindness and concern for others. She got along with everyone.

Family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria Hospital & also the great home care workers of WRHA.

As per her wishes there will be no service.  We love you and will miss you

She loved this quote:

“When I am gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see & do,

you mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears;

be happy that we had so many years.

I thank you for all the love you have shown,

but now it’s time I travel alone.

I won’t be far away for life goes on,

So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me

I’ll be near and if you listen with your heart,

you’ll hear all my love around you soft & clear

I can’t begin to describe how sad I am to hear of your mom’s passing Lorraine. Helga has always been, and will always be, in my thoughts, and my memories of her will be held close to my heart. She was one of the most wonderful and generous women I have known, not to mention her love of life, positivity and incredible kindness. Helga had a lovely sense of humour and a laugh that was so contagious! When I started working with her in the 70’s, so young and naive, she took me under her wing and helped me grow, and became a very important part of my life! After I moved away from Winnipeg, she would entertain me with the loveliest of letters, many of which I still have…she was a very eloquent writer! I’ll so miss not being able to see her on my next visit to Winnipeg, but will always be grateful for the years and times we did have together. I can only imagine how difficult this time has been for you, Lorraine, having lost so much in such a short time, and I’m sending my most heartfelt and deepest condolences to you and Harold. Lorraine and Harold, I will miss your mom, my friend, who I loved very much.  Her sense of humor was incredible right till the last time we talked.  Helga will always be in my thoughts and prayers.  My condolences to you both. Janis Streilein ❤

Im so sorry for your loss, it cannot be easy. I remember Helga & Lorraine always made sure that we'd get together every year, i loved our Applebees trips of just talking, laughing and sharing old memories, i always looked forward to it and will treasure it. She was such a kind soul, she was always so positive and stayed forever young with her jokes & laughter. She will be missed.❤
