ZITA HELEN BUCHKO

(née TRUSH)

July 25, 1929 - January 2, 2023

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Zita Helen Buchko (née Trush) of Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 2, 2023, at the age of 93.

Zita was born on July 25, 1929, to William and Pauline Trush in Winnipeg, the youngest of 12 children.  After Zita graduated from high school, she began working at Frank H. Wylie in the office.

On June 18, 1955, Zita married her soul mate William (Bill) Buchko. Zita and Bill had one daughter Roxane (Ken) Lundgren and two grandchildren Brita and Anna Lundgren.

We would like to thank the homecare workers who worked with Zita for so many years, and the staff at Misericordia Hospital.

Zita was involved in the Catholic Women’s League at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church and her faith was an important part of her life.

Zita was predeceased by her beloved Bill, her parents, and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Roxane and her granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be held for close family members in the spring.

Roxane, Brita and Anna,  My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother and grandmother. What a gift it was to have your Mom in your lives for so long. May you find comfort in the memories she leaves behind. I have fond memories of going on a road trip with Aunt Zita and Uncle Bill to visit family in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan. Aunt Zita was thoughtful and caring, acknowledging birthdays, anniversaries and was always interested in what was going on in my life. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
