WILLIAM "BILL" BURKOWSKI

January 6, 1937 – March 25, 2021

It is with deepest sorrow that his family announces the peaceful passing of William “Bill” Burkowski on March 25, 2021, at the age of 84 years, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Left to celebrate his life are his loving daughter Karen; granddaughter Caitlin (Fishing Buddy); daughter Wendy (Carmen); granddaughters, Faithe, Heather, and Jennifer; siblings Adeline, and Nadena; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and all of his wonderful and supportive friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Christina Burkowski; brothers Robert and Thomas; and brother-in-law Robert Thompson.

In 1975 Bill created Packers Maintenance Service, which he operated until he finally retired at the age 0f 75. He loved his work and spent most of his time in the shop. Everyone knew to check the shop first before knocking on the door to the house. The shop wasn't just a shop, it was a gathering place for all his friends to talk business and fishing. Bill spent all his spare time going to Florida to visit his cousins and doing things with his granddaughter Caitlin, especially fishing.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.

Bill’s family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.

Remember me with a smile today,

I was not one for tears.

Reflect instead on memories

Of all our happy years.

Recall to mind the way I spoke,

All the things I said.

My strength, my stance, the way I laughed. Remember these instead.

~We love you Bill~

Karen and Wendy  A lovely tribute to your Father, I have many fond memories of  your Dad, from Emily Street, ,Winnipeg Ave and the cottage at St Laurent.  Seeing  the picture of the big fish, I now know that all of his  fishing stories were true. Cousin  Bill Zemianski

My deepest sympathies Karen and Kaitlyn.  Bill was amazingly talented: making tools for a specific task, his high end bar (his top drawer in the filing cabinet in the garage) and one of the biggest hugs you got when he left. A wave with smoke in his mouth: a huge grin saying stay out of trouble.  My family had many a laugh, a great story on the one who got away and Bill's remedy for being a smart ass. ( a kick in the seat with his foot)  Bill it was a pleasure to have known you.  We lift a glass to a great fellow.  In our thoughts and prayers Susan, Randy, Kaitlinne and Sait.
