EVELYN LORRAINE BURTON

September 7, 1931 - January 28, 2023

Mom’s travel date to Somewhere over the Rainbow occurred on January 28, 2023.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill. She is survived by her three children, Jay Rodgers (Nicole), Jock Rodgers (Sharon), and Lendre Kearns (King); grandchildren, Alexia and Dustin (Amy); as well as Bill’s family.

Mom and Bill were the consummate hosts, whether at the Cabin on Rush Bay or at the house in Fort Garry .The Christmas dinners and the Canada Day pool parties are legendary. Mom’s brother Len and his friend Jack often drove in from Edmonton for the Canada Day celebrations, with Jack invariably adding colour to the proceedings. Amazingly. Mom and Bill kept up with all the chores and maintenance of both the house and cabin, well into their 80’s, often eschewing offers of help from Family members.

They were also known for their generosity, donating to many charities. They had a number of pets and were lovers of all animals. Accordingly, should anyone wish to make a donation in memory, please consider the Winnipeg Humane Society or a Pet Shelter.

At Mom’s request, no formal service will be held. A private get together will be held at a later date, featuring her favorite Dixieland Jazz.

Lorraine's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

The time I spent with Lorraine was filled with Love and care. She showed up for life in a biggest way possible and was independent, strong and a wonderful human being. She had a beautiful gift of making everyone feel like the most important person in the world. Our Dearest Lorraine! You left behind a lifetime of memories that we can celebrate. YOU will be the first person who will come to my mind when ever i will eat ANGEL FOOD CAKE and watch JEOPARDY!

Lorraine was an excellent hostess who always loved welcoming visitors. Our pup Stella always tagged along too. Stella loved visiting. Gram was always ready with a handful of treats. Stella never left her side.
