TRACY "OSCAR" CADGER

September 26, 1960 - October 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our beautiful mother and friend, Tracy Cadger. Born: September 26th 1960. Date of Passing: October 7th 2023.

Mom was predeceased by her father: Theodore Henley, mother: Florence Cadger (née Knox), grand parents, all the uncles and aunts, friends; Pat Cure, Sylvester Predinchuk. Left to mourn the unimaginable loss of Tracy Cadger; husband Philip Gray, daughters Cassandra (Matthew), Chelsea (Stephen), grandbabies; Alexis, Marley, Avery and Finley, long time friend and ex husband; Robert Cadger. She leaves behind her dear Sisters; Lois Henley (Justin, Jessica, Hailey), Carla (Cameron, Aimee and Riley), Cindy (Neil) Glover (Nichole, Mandy, Hazel, Theodore and David, Amber, and Piper) and many friends and acquaintances.

Tracy was born in Pine Falls and grew up in Pointe du Bois , Manitoba. Mom spent many years of her childhood enjoying the outdoors, curling in bonspiels with her parents, snowmobiling in the winters and swimming with her sisters and friends at the boathouse. Many memories of up river fishing with her dad and sisters that usually ended in a fish fry, playing games on princess rock, skipping school to race her dad by car, and buying cigarettes for both herself and her gramma from the corner store, Joe’s, are just a few memories to say the least. A lot of friends were made in Pointe, and some of the best days of her life were spent out in the countryside.

Mom opted for the city living in her adult years, and moved to Winnipeg. Working all her life and wearing many different hats she was the backbone for a lot of different opportunities.  Her time at the Richardson building (where she made many friends, and usually had a beer on her lunch break), working the Fort Rouge curling club (alongside family) to working the kitchen at Peaks and Ridges (remembering the time both her and I worked the Red River Ex, and I forced her onto the scariest, stomach turning ride possible, we laughed so hard). Tracy was the lifeline and “MOTHER” at Dakotas family foods deli, cooking up storms on the daily and teaching all the newbies the ropes, and all the holiday meals most of St. Vital came for, (let’s not forget telling all those people off who asked a million times for gravy before it was ready.)

Mom and dad bought the house on Berrydale, where we made many years of memories. Always a bbq in the summer on the deck with some cold beers, the countless parties in the gazebo that lasted most of the weekends and usually extended across the backlane to the Glover house. Mom always famously falling asleep sitting up in her chair and cheering the kids on as we stupidly decided to slide down the stairs on a giant Disney cardboard book, and who could forget the year of wrapping the scissors in the Christmas present itself.

Mom taught us that “if you didn’t like what you see, don’t look” and to “settle down donkey”, among teaching us how to be mothers to our own, how to work hard in our lives and be ourselves unapologetically. She was the type of mom who you could call at 3 am when one of your sons is sick and you don’t know what to do. Always there to help, mom carried us through complicated labours, the struggles of motherhood, and developed her own special bonds with each of her grandbabies; giving her the titles of “bama”, “dollargramma”, and “memaw”.

Mom enjoyed the sunsets from her balcony on Arden where she spent many years, watching the Blue jays and feeding the squirrels, playing marbles with her granddaughters and numerous bonfires enjoyed together in the backyard on Worthington. Mom loved an adventure; she spent many years with her husband Phillip going back and forth between the United States (her favorite casino where she won the big bucks at shooting star); to her travels to Fort Mac (for beers with her favorite drinking buddy), and a sister trip to Nanaimo to see the west coast family (one for the books), she was always up for an adventure, but not after having a “quick smoke and a drink first…”.

You could write nothing in a card for mom, and she would still bawl her eyes out. She had the biggest heart, the best hugs, the calmest demeanor and will always be the world’s greatest. We are going to miss her forever, and life is so unbelievably fair.

To you mom- here’s your final card. DEBORJA

I have so many photos it’s hard to choose, so I’ll probably post them all! They might be doubles but they were all fun times had with aunty Tracy! To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad time with her.
