SHANNON GAIL CAMPANARO

March 30, 1964 – September 18, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Shannon passed away on September 18 at home at the age of 58 years.

She is survived by her best friend in life of 58 years Fred. Her two son’s Adam (Taneisha) and Brandon (Natalya); Her two grandchildren Jaxon and Benjamin; Her three brothers Scott, Steven and Jamie. One niece Evelyn and one nephew Jamison and fellow Buddhists and co-workers.

Shannon was the kindest most loving person you could ever meet. The best mom anyone could ask for. She strived to build a good life for her two sons. She loved her family and loved playing video games with her sons and singing and dancing with them. She enjoyed taking her sons everywhere, to the beach, to museums, her entire world was her sons and their happiness, and she carried that love on with her grandsons. She was especially close with her grandson Jaxon. They got to spend a lot of time together and she cherished every moment. Christmas was always special in her house. She always did everything in her power to make sure it would be memorable. She loved chatting on the phone with her family and friends, she could talk for hours, and you always felt better after talking to her. Her best friend was Fred, they walked through life together and were always there for each other.

She was a third level CGI and worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the President, to the Vice Provost of Academics for 17 years till her retirement. She was very passionate about her Buddhism; she made many friends in the Buddhist community.

A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1st, 2022, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

The passing of Shannon is being felt by so many. Her heart and light touched so many. Shannon’s caring, calm and compassionate presence in our office was felt by many. She was always willing to help in any way and took great pride in her work. She especially enjoyed the holiday season and always stepped up to decorate the Administration building holiday tree. I know how deeply she loved her children and grandchildren. My heart arches with them. Rest peacefully, dear Shannon.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Shannon's passing.  She was my second floor "neighbor" in the Admin. Building at the UM.  Family was everything to her.  I miss our hallway chats about our grandchildren (especially after her sleepovers with Jax).  Every time I pass by her old office I think of her with fond memories.  Wishing her family peace.

Gone too soon!  My heart is heavy when I found out.  I prayed it wasn't true.  I knew Shannon in the VP Office.  My desk was behind hers.  She is a kind, humble soul!  Shannon would always say "Lord love a duck!"  One day I brought her a yellow rubber duck with the saying on it.  We always had a good laugh!! I am honored to have known her.  She loves her family so much.  I pray for comfort and strength to get through their loss. Shannon will always be a part of my life!  You will be missed...my friend!

Shannon will be deeply missed by her Buddhist family in Winnipeg.  Prior to the pandemic she would join us every Wednesday night with Jax at our Centre and chant from the back of the room.  We celebrated tand joined her in her joy at the birth of a second grandson.  Shannon was always eager to dress up and perform in one of our skits and had such a sweet and playful disposition when she participated.  I was grateful to be there to watch Brandon grow into manhood and especially to be able to be a friend in faith to support her when she most needed it.  We shared in many joys and losses together.  Our faith believes that we are all connected eternally and that she will be reborn with those she loves in the future when the conditions are right.  All of our continued united prayer will permeate her life and reach her regardless of our faith backgrounds. On behalf of SGI Winnipeg we continue to remember Shannon with deep affection and love.

I am so very sorry to hear of Shannon’s passing! I knew her during my time in the dean’s office College of Medicine and she in the VP’s office where we had several interactions related to certain events that connected us. What a beautiful soul! She will be missed and forever remembered by those whose lives she touched!❤

I am so sorry to hear of Shannon’s passing.  I met Shannon years ago when  I hired her to work in our office for a temp casual appointment in the Economics Department at the U of Manitoba.  She had excellent skills and was such a delight to work with.  She was so helpful and kind and was an asset to our office for the short time she worked in our Department.  I remember her talking about her sons and I knew how much they meant to her. .  Later I would correspond with her when she was in her position in the VP office on work related matters..  Shannon was always so helpful and knowledgable and always so kind. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear beautiful Mom and Grandmother.  I pray for comfort and peace for you through this time as you remember her and cherish the beautiful memories she made with you.  ❤
