BEN CARRIERE

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved son, brother, uncle, and great uncle.

Ben is survived by his loving mother Stella; brothers, Vincent (Susan), Danny (Cindy) from Kelowna, BC, Arthur (Michelle), and Richard (Melissa); sister Elaine (Jeffory) Busch; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his god mother Simone Cockrill from Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He is predeceased by his father Ferdinand.

Ben was raised in Winnipeg and attended Kirkfield park school. In his adult life Ben lived with his mom and dad. Everyone in their neighborhood knew Ben. He would go for walks, go to the park and swing for hours, then stop at 7-11 to grab a Slurpee or Big Gulp and just take off and not pay. Thankfully, they knew Ben’s dad wouldn’t be far behind to pay for his purchase.

As Ben got older, he went to stay at Grandview Gateways, in Grandview, Manitoba, where he delivered flyers and worked at the Bakery. He eventually got lonesome for home so he moved back. He later moved to MBS group home where he resided until his passing.

We would like to thank the staff at Maitland B. Steinkopf residence for caring for Ben during the time that he spent there. We would also like to thank the Winnipeg Paramedics, as well as the nurses in the Grace Hospital ICU for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 2400 Portage Avenue. Barry Schoonbaert to officiate.
