Gerry Carriere

GERARD “GERRY” PAUL CARRIERE
June 20, 1947 - January 2, 2026
Gerry passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on January 2, 2026 at the age of 78.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Sharron; son, Richard; son, Rheal; daughter-in-law, Andrea; grandson, Lukas; sister, Lucille (Claude); sister, Claudette (Ted); brother, Raymond (Brenda); sister-in-law, Pat; sister-in-law, Tracey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gerry was born in Winnipeg, the third child to parents Emily (Gallant) and Amedee Carriere. The family lived in St. Boniface in the house that Amedee built in 1945. In his early years, Gerry participated in Scouts and later had success as a skilled gymnast. Gerry earned his pilot’s license and at one point, owned a small plane.
In 1968, Gerry was married to Suzanne and together they had two children, Richard in 1969 and Rheal in 1971. Gerry and Sharron were married in 1994 and celebrated 31 years of marriage this past October.
As a young adult, Gerry had several jobs before building his career as a real estate agent. Together with his brother, Raymond in 1976 formed the company which in 1979 became known as Century 21 Carrie Realty. Gerry was passionate about his work and took pride in supporting his clients until his retirement in 2011.
In their retirement, Gerry and his wife Sharron spent 12 years as snowbirds in Arizona. They spent summers at their cottage at Beauty Bay, out on the water in the boat and in the cart on the golf course. Gerry and Sharron enjoyed travelling around Canada and Europe. They also had an active social life, getting together with “The Gang” and other friends and family for regular social events. Gerry developed a passion for golf and was a season ticket holder for the Winnipeg Jets. In 2017, Gerry became a “Pepere” and enjoyed spending time watching his Grandson’s soccer and hockey games.
Friends and family are invited to a Gathering to celebrate Gerry’s life from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st on the 2nd level of The Leaf at Assiniboine Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

Gerry was a great man — hardworking and dedicated, he built a strong reputation in the real estate industry. He and his brother and extended family ran a wonderful business together at C21 Carrie.
Sincere condolences from the entire Cole Castelane Team and Family.

Gerry was the kindest of souls in our office at Century 21 Carrie. He was also a great mentor and was so helpful in guiding me through my first few months of real estate. Gerry had a way of making you feel like everything would work out. Such a special human being. Rest in peace my good friend.

One of the kindest men I have ever met. Always there with a smile or a shoulder/ear to rely on.

I first met Gerry in 1977 when I started working at the Winnipeg Real Estate Board and then in the field when I began selling real estate. Always enjoyed my conversations with him. My deepest condolences to the family.

I met Gerry on Oct 28th 1988 when I walked into Carrie Realty looking to join the Carrie Team... Gerry was the quiet anchor to a dynamic real-estate partnership that was Carrie Realty. I thank him and Ray for teaching me how to build my life and be successful in life. He always cared , from his heart, about the welfare of his younger students in real estate.. it was not an easy task. One of my favorite memories was when Myself, Karen Guetre , Gerry and George brought our spouses to a New Orleans convention. It was so much fun and we got to know the real Gerry. ( we still regalle stories from that week to our friends) In busness he was humble and honest to a fault. Always teaching and leading by example. Gerry, ( and Ray) I and my family will always be thankful that you helped shape our lives. You were a brave man right to the end. Thank you for all that did for us. ( hugs)

Being dock mates on Black Sturgeon at Beauty Bay I always marvelled on how Gerry's boat always look like it just came out of the showroom. Always with a positive attiitute, we'll dearly miss this friendly and smiling friend. I'll never forget his classic story about Gerry Withagee.

Uncle Gerry was such a special person in my life. Also being my god father, he was always so kind and understanding in an circumstance. He was always the guy I'd seek guidance from because I knew his balanced approach to life would offer the best solution. I'll miss our occasional lunchs and his calming presence at the weekly pool league. I love you Uncle Gerry and I'll miss you So much.
