Elaine was born November 2, 1945, in Lethbridge, Alberta to Viola Doreen (née Linklater) and Peter John Miechkota.  After the death of Elaine’s father, Peter, on December 7, 1949, Doreen and the children moved to Manitoba.  Elaine has lived in Manitoba ever since.  Elaine was an avid genealogist, and although she was very secretive about her age, it was important to her to leave a record for any future genealogists and thus she allowed her age to be disclosed herein.

Elaine was predeceased by her grandparents, Anastasia (nee Mokoski/Makowska) (June 1945) and Wasyl Miechkota (1958) of Lethbridge, Alberta and formerly of Kobylowoloki, Ukraine, and Lina Yuille (nee Slater) (June 19, 1981) and Frank Linklater (July 30, 1967) of Grand Marais, Manitoba, and her parents, Peter John Miechkota (December 7, 1949) and Viola Doreen Labey (nee Linklater) (June 17, 2002).

Elaine is survived by husband, Donald Chadney, and her three children, Rhonda Johnson (Campbell River, B.C.), Kim Hilderman (Calgary, AB), and Faren (Joanne) Chadney (Ste. Anne, MB); by her eight grandchildren, Clayton (Laura), Jonas and Tyler Steinthorson, Derek Johnson, James and Jennica Hilderman and Tylo and Brayden Chadney; and by her three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Payton, and Emilie Steinthorson.  Elaine is also survived by her three step children, Dawna Chadney (Winnipeg, MB), Catherine (Brian) McEwan (Tyndall, MB), and Maura Stanhope (Winnipeg, MB); and six step-grandchildren: Ridge and Brittany McEwen, Ashley, Cassandra, Ethan, and Thomas Bieniarz.  Also surviving are Elaine’s brother, Stephen Miechkota (Winnipeg) and sister, Cheryl Shirtliffe (Grand Marais) and four nieces: Shawn Bobrowski (nee Shirtliffe), Hayley Shirtliffe, Tracey Shirtliffe and Robyn Rasmussen (nee Miechkota) and their families.

I’m Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Angels Are Mothers

There are Angels God puts on this Earth
Who care for us and guide us.
You can feel their love and gentleness
as they walk through life beside us.

They do great things for us every day
they whisper in our ears,
they even hold us in their hearts
when we are filled with all our fears.

They are always there to give a hug
and try to make us smile.
They treat us with respect and love,
they treat us like their child.

God blessed me with an Angel,
I’m proud to call my own.
She’s been with me throughout my
life, been with me as I’ve grown.

She’s guided me the best she can,
she’s taught me like no other,
and I’m thankful I’m the lucky one
who get’s to call her... MOTHER
