Sharon Chmielnicki

SHARON GAIL CHMIELNICKI
June 4, 1956 - September 1, 2025
We sadly announce the passing of Sharon at the age of 69, at the St. Boniface Hospital with family by her side.
Sharon is survived by her son Michael; daughter in law Amanda; and granddaughter Jayde. She is also survived by her sisters, Bev (Bucky) and Brenda; nephews, Jeffrey and Cody; and great nephew and niece, Caden and Brooklyn.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Hazel.
Sharon was born and raised in Winnipeg and enjoyed her summers in Sandy Hook, and later in Husavik at her parents’ home which later became Michael, Amanda, and Jayde’s home where she enjoyed her time outside with Bailey and Stella, loving her coffee and smokes.
In her early years, Sharon was employed with Boeing until she could no longer work due to her illness with rheumatoid arthritis.
Sharon enjoyed playing bingo over the years and her nights out with friends where she would enjoy her Bacardi rum and coke. She also had a love for fishing.
Sharon was a strong-willed person, very independent and very determined to live on her own, and do things in her own way right until the end which she did.
We would like to thank all of her doctors and nurses over the years and a special thank you to the team at the ICU of St. Boniface Hospital for their amazing care during her final days.
Also a special thank you from her family to her friends Norma and Kathy who over the years has made it possible for her to stay at home.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 20th at 1:00pm in Husavik. All friends and family are welcome.
Rest in Peace, Sharon
~

I am so sorry to learn of Sharon's passing. Although she will be missed by many, myself included, I take comfort knowing she is free from pain and the difficulties that came with her health problems. She was one of a kind, no nonsense, straight shooting, loving, fiercely loyal, and thoughtful. Every Christmas she wrote me the most beautiful messages, and I looked forward to each one. They were very special, as was she. Michael, you were her pride and joy. There wasn't a hair appointment where you weren't mentioned. How she loved you, and was so very proud to be your mom.
I will miss her.

First sincere condolences Michael and family. Shirley thanks for posting that photo of Sharon and I (smile). Hope the site stays open for a while and we can post more.
I met Sharon in grade seven and I will never forget our crazy teen years. Sharon, Sandra and I met up every morning and walked to and from school together. We strategized how to beat the boys out of class to get a head start running from the daily snowball attacks. Sandra and I joined track Sharon joined Cheerleading. Then there were school dances, where we would be singing “Hey Tonight” by Creedence Clearwater Revival at the top of our lungs, good times continued at Orioles Community Club dances and just general hanging out. In those days we drank whatever we could get our hands on. The formative years are still etched in my mind. Since then, Sharon has become an inspiration, with her gracious demeaner never losing her sense of humour even in the worst of circumstances. She really fought some tough battles however, like a true champion Sharon kept smiling. Love you, Sharon, for all the adventures and memories. You will remain in our hearts and minds. I hope to share more memories with old friends the next time I visit Winnipeg. Great to hear there were so many wonderful people in her life.

Rest Easy Sharon, you are a true gem. I have many great memories of visiting with Sharon at her "haunted" house in Gimli. When I told her that I felt a presence in the bathoorm, she laughed and said oh you met my rommate. I was so scared, I slept in the porch, . Sharon shared many stories of her roomate with me. She was always up for a good laugh and I really enjoyed our visits. My sincere condolences to her son Michael and his family. Sharon was a great friend to my entire family espeically my mom. Sharon, your beautiful smile will be missed.
